3x WIAA D2 State Champ Eric Storms Commits to Michigan

Madison, Wisconsin’s Eric Storms has announced his commitment to swim for the University of Michigan in the class of 2022. Storms is a senior at Monona Grove High School where he is three-time state champion in the 100 back and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He will be joining AJ Bornstein, Andrew Babyak, David Cleason, Dylan Boyd, Ian Miskelley, Jared Daigle, Jérémie Luong, Mason Hunter, Michael MacGillivray, Patrick Callan, and Will Chan in Ann Arbor next fall. He announced his commitment via social media:

“Beyond Excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Michigan! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for helping me on this journey. Go Blue!〽️?”

Storms claimed his third 100 back title at the 2018 WIAA Boys Division 2 State Meet in February, where he also led off the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays, and finished second in the 100 fly, helping Monona Grove win their fourth consecutive D2 state championship. In club swimming, Storms spent many years with the Monona Swim and Dive Club but now represents Madison Aquatic Club. At the recent Wisconsin 13 & Over SCY State Championship he was a finalist in the 100 back (2nd), 100 breast (3rd), 100 IM (5th), 100 breast (7th), 200 back (7th), and 100 fly (11th), and lowered his PBs in the 50 back, 100 breast and 100 IM.

How does MI sign 12 guys in 1yr & whole men’s team only has 9 scholarships??? Several of these guys must be getting little to no money. Just happy to be on team I guess????

Most coaches figure out how to split scholarships, so maybe one guy gets tuition for one semester, another room and board, books only for a third and so forth
