Annika is from Fullerton, California, and she majored in Writing and Rhetoric at Scripps College while swimming for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS). She joined SwimSwam as a reporter in August 2020. Outside of SwimSwam, she has bylines at the Los Angeles Times and The Student Life newspaper.
Annika began swimming competitively at age eight, following in the footsteps of her siblings. In college, she specialized in butterfly, distance freestyle, and IM. She qualified for the 2023 DIII NCAA Championships with a 2:04.42 200 yard fly, which earned her 2nd place at the 2023 SCIAC Championships. It also ranked her 16th in the nation at the time. Annika completed her collegiate career with CMS that season in Greensboro, where she swam lifetime-best times in the 200 IM and 100 fly, and placed 21st in the 200 fly.
