What will I do in this role?
Coaching:
- Organize and conduct practices, conditioning programs and competitive events. Instruct student-athletes with sound principles and expert skills related to swimming, prepare individual athletes and team for meets, set season goals and motivate students using techniques that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the Lycoming College athletic program philosophy.
- Develop and sustain a competitive program in men’s and women’s swimming that is in line with Lycoming’s athletic standards. Competitiveness may be demonstrated by conference standings, qualifying for individual or team playoffs at conference or NCAA level, conference awards for players and/or coaches, etc.
- With approval of the Director of Athletics, create an annual schedule that includes a balance of home and away contests; schools that are competitive from an athletic perspective; schools that reflect the same academic values as Lycoming College; and schools that include institutions within Lycoming College’s key admission recruiting areas.
- Manage, monitor and comply with the operating budget. Follow College and departmental policies regarding fiscal procedures. Provide Director of Athletics with annual cost estimates.

- Recruit, train and supervise assistant coaches and student-workers. Conduct annual evaluations of all continuing assistant coaches.

Immediate Part-Time Openings: The JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim team (BWTD)is seeking qualified USA Swim Coaches to assist our full time coaches with our Gold 1 & 2 groups, and additional groups as needed. BWTD is located at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater, NJ. We have an ambitious, experienced staff, and we are looking to hire coaches with the same commitment to excellence and desire to inspire our swimmers to succeed. We offer a competitive program that allows swimmers to achieve high levels of athletic success on a State level and beyond. We also enjoy a “family” culture that includes committed coaches and a supportive volunteer parent committee with a diverse and dedicated group of swimmers and families.
The Assistant Coach will be responsible for all aspects of coaching one or more assigned practice groups and will attend all meets in which they are assigned. Meets are generally 1-2 weekends a month, with more during Championship seasons.
The Tide has a year round enrollment of 160 swimmers that compete on both USA Swimming Short Course and Long Course teams, a Competitive Stroke Clinic in the spring, and a summer league team that competes in the NJ Swimming and Diving Conference. The JCC’s excellent facility includes both a 5 lane 25 yard indoor heated pool, and a 5 lane 25 meter outdoor heated pool that has a dome enclosure during the colder months, so it is utilized all year round.

The American Swimming Coaches Association has repeatedly recognized Dynamo’s exceptional training and stroke technique which has resulted in individual and team titles at USA Swimming National and Junior National Championships. Dynamo was well represented at both the 2024 Paris and 2021 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games (including medalists Brooks Curry, Jay Litherland, and Gia Pergolini). Most recently our men’s team were champions at the 2022 Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine, California.
