Working with the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association (“CIASA“) Board, the Technical Director will play a key role in the development and implementation of the CIASA Strategic Plan, liaising with stakeholders to effectively deliver all aspects of the plan at every level from Learn To Swim through to and including High-Performance Competitive Swimming.
Planning and Implementation
Direct and manage the delivery of the CIASA Strategic Plan, monitor progress and conduct regular reviews.
Where appropriate identify process enhancements and new strategic initiatives for CIASA Board consideration.
Develop implementation plans as well as design and document associated policies, procedures and systems.
Produce budget plans and contribute towards the development of a funding model to capitalise on CIASA funding opportunities and investment sources.
Swimming Development & Water Safety
Work closely with the Cayman Islands Government Department of Sports to develop an exciting, vibrant and sustainable programme of school swimming. Liaise with Head Teachers and Heads of Department in the implementation of a swimming syllabus to ensure every child receives quality swimming instruction. This includes the development of and the teaching of water safety and competition.
Work closely with the Cayman Islands Government Department of Sports to develop an education programme for school swim instructors.
Direct CIASA’s Community Development Programme to ensure opportunities are extended to the wider community with the aim of promoting water safety and increasing engagement in aquatic activities at every level.
Conduct evaluations of Learn To Swim schemes aiming to achieve the CIASA kite mark standard, offer advice and support as required, and provide recommendations to the CIASA board.
Implement and manage the CIASA Awards Scheme recognising water confidence, skills, speed, and distance achievements or to ensure CIASA’s learn-to-swim partners are using their own programme.
Promote the formation of new swimming clubs in outlining areas of the islands and liaise with interested parties to initiate development plans.
Work to introduce new water safety agencies work with current appropriate agencies to raise awareness of water safety through education and training programmes.
Produce qualification standards for international meets and contribute to the national selection of athletes and team staff in conjunction with the CIASA Representative Team Committee, Commonwealth Games Committee, Island Games Committee and National Olympic Committee.
As required by CIASA, as National Team Head Coach and/or National Team Manager, act as National Team Head Coach and/or National Team Manager at international competitions with responsibility for directing and managing the team staff and athletes and creating a team environment conducive to optimum performance.
Liaise with FINA and the international organising committees on logistical arrangements and entries for international events, and assist with the development and organisation of CIASA domestic Open Water and Pool events as well as CARIFTA and Island Games.
Prepare performance analysis reports for benchmark competitions (pre, during and post-meet) for distribution to the coaches, team managers and the CIASA Board.
Direct and manage the National Squad programme with a focus on the development of swimming skills and technique, and ensure the delivery of activities that are designed and tailored specifically to each National Squad level with an eye toward the individual development of each squad member.
Establish a competitive programme for Masters swimming and identify suitable domestic and international racing opportunities for approval by the CIASA Board.
Work closely with Special Olympics Cayman Islands (SOCI) to integrate SOCI swimmers into CIASA Registered Clubs and CIASA Designated Competitions.
Maintain a confidential database of swimmer rankings and CIASA/National swimming records and prepare and distribute record certificates.
Maintain a database of contact information for the Representative Team Members.
Conduct assessments of identified talented swimmers and arrange a suitable programme and opportunities to fulfil their potential.
Provide advice and guidance on off-island academic and swimming opportunities for swimmers seeking to move off-island for educational purposes.
Professional Development, Education & Support
Establish individually tailored Coach Development Plans for club coaches and act as mentor and support for club coaches in all aspects of their specific professional development programme.
Develop and implement a swimming coaching and teaching Apprenticeship scheme to provide work experience, encouragement, mentoring and support to participating individuals including those involved in the Government’s programmes.
Liaise with the Officials Committee to ensure the provision of appropriate education and training opportunities for Technical Officials.
Lead a forum for coaches to discuss technical coaching issues, and establish and manage a Coaches and Teachers Association to offer professional advice and in house seminars and clinics.
Implement an information and advisory service for registered swimmers, parents, coaches, teachers and officials covering all areas of the Swimming Development and Competitive programmes.
Provide advice and guidance to swimming clubs on such matters as principles of training, land conditioning, competition calendars and other related technical matters, and assist with on deck support for clubs when requested and approved by CIASA.
Assist the Board of Directors of CIASA in communicating and implementing CIASA’s Vision, Values and Objectives and overall direction.
Liaise with the CIASA President and CIASA Vice President to ensure that all of CIASA’s obligations to, and enquiries from, the CIOC, Island Games Committee, FINA, UANA, CCCAN and CARIFTA are met in a timely manner.
Liaise with the CIASA Treasurer regarding the preparation of budgets and reconciliation of accounts from competitions.
Liaise with the Chairman of the CIASA Open Water Committee to ensure proper planning, preparation and evaluation occur for each open water swim. Assist the CIASA Open Water Committee by co-ordinating with the Flowers Group in respect of the promotion, development and organisation of the Flowers’ sea swims.
Liaise with the Chairman of the Facilities/50m Pool Committee with respect to the maintenance or improvement of existing swim facilities (as applicable) and the plans for the 50m Pool on Grand Cayman and the 25m Pool on Cayman Brac.
Liaise with the Board of Directors of CIASA and CIASA registered clubs in respect of the promotion of masters’ swimming and the development of other aquatic disciplines in the Cayman Islands.
Liaise with the Chairman of the CIASA Representative Team Committee to ensure that all RTC obligations are met in a timely and appropriate manner. Assist the Chairman to ensure that all National Team members and parents have met their obligations in terms of signing and abiding by the Representative Team Agreement and other specific agreements required for individual CIASA team events.
Liaise with the Chairman of the CIASA Fund Development Committee to ensure that all potential information requested by fund development partners or potential partners is obtained as well as to ensure that all CIASA obligations are met for fund development partners.
Liaise with the Chairman of the CIASA Booster Club to ensure that all obligations and comments are met by CIASA and liaise generally with the Booster Club.
Assist the Board of Directors of CIASA to ensure that all Club Development, club documents, club reports and other obligations are met in a timely manner.
Liaise with the Technical Officials Committee.
Act as Chairman of the CIASA Coaches Committee and conduct meetings with Head Coaches of CIASA registered swim clubs and meetings with all coaches.
Maintain the FINA and UANA entry and games management systems.
Lead or assist in the development and organisation of all FINA schools or clinics for coaches, athletes and/or officials.
Liaise with, or act as the Chairman of any CIASA Committee established from time to time (as applicable).
In conjunction with the CIASA press officer, actively and positively promote all aspects of the CIASA swimming programme via press and media opportunities, and regularly update the CIASA website with news and information items.
Act in an advisory capacity to stakeholders, agencies and interested individuals on all aquatics matters as appropriate.
Attend international competitions, conferences and workshops as requested by the CIASA Board and report back findings and key messages.
Perform any other relevant duties that may be requested from time to time by the CIASA Board.

Nu Wave Swim Club is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, passionate swim coach to serve as the Head Site Coach for our site at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Qualified candidates will have strong communication skills. The Newman Site is home to Nu Wave Stroke School and Seasonal Competitive programs.
The Nu Wave Stroke School services swimmers, ages 5-10 years old, who are transitioning from lessons to swim team. Our Seasonal Competitive groups are designed for introductory swimmers and multi-sport athletes, or as an alternative to our High Performance track. These groups are split into 8&U, 9-12, and 13&O age groups.
Nu Wave Swim Club has four sites across the greater New Orleans area. Nu Wave has reached Level 4 status in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. In 2019, Nu Wave was recognized as a Bronze Medal Club in USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program.
Head Site Coach duties include:
Coach both the Whitecaps (9-12 yr old) and Varsity (13&O) Seasonal Competitive groups.
Coordinate evaluations for all incoming swimmers eligible for Newman Site programs.
Emphasize the importance of proper technique, teamwork, learning in a group setting, work ethic, and sportsmanship.
Work with Seasonal Competitive coaches to establish goals for WAVE swimmers, oversee swimmer progress, and communicate progression plans.

Contribute to coaches’ communications including team news/updates.
Communicate statistics on team members, such as practice and meet attendance, goal achievement, and team records.

Develop cooperative and supportive relationships with the City of New Orleans, including local high schools, middle schools, and summer recreation teams.

Club coaching experience with a variety of age groups preferred. Strong personnel management skills and swimming technical expertise is a must.

Waterloo Swimming, LP (WS) is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Swim Coach to direct/lead one of our age group swim groups at Waterloo Swimming. You will be responsible for working with an assistant coach helping you run this group. Your group may consist of up to 80+ swimmers across multiple practices times each afternoon.
Started in June 2016, our club as grown to 400+ swimmers. Our Age Group programs are scoring in the top 4 at our LSC championships.
Duties and skills of the Lead Swim Coach include but are not limited to:
Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and Waterloo Swimming policies and procedures.
Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with our curriculum, practice schedules, and be supportive of the overall philosophy and direction of Waterloo Swimming.
Grow, coach, oversee, and manage our Waterloo Swimming program by writing and executing workouts, attending meets, entering swimmers into meets via software, running clinics, and social functions. Teach proper swim techniques and stroke mechanics
Is willing and motivated to work/be involved on multiple fronts within the organization- leading or assisting with fundraisers, special events and team-builders, clinics, camps, evaluation process, attend home and away meets, and participate in coaches’ education opportunities.
Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within Waterloo Swimming and communicate regularly with counterpart group coaches. Recommend group practice assignments for each swimmer. Substitute for other coaches as needed. Prepare and submit swimmers’ meet entries and attend assigned swim meets.
Interact effectively with parents
Keep records and reports as directed by the Head Coach. Maintaining a safe pool environment during practices (water quality checks/pool area clean up/etc)
Model proper dress, language, demeanor, and sportsmanship for swimmers. Exhibit daily a passion for helping swimmers maximize their potential
Possess USA Swimming certifications and credentials commensurate with the position.

Collingswood Marlins Swim Team
The Collingswood Marlins summer swim team is seeking an experienced swim coach for the 2020 swim season during which the Marlins will be competing in the National Division of the Suburban Swimming Association of South Jersey. We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to lead approximately 140 swimmers of all ability levels in our competitive summer swim league. Afternoon practices are held from 3:15 pm through 6:15 pm on weekdays beginning approximately Tuesday, May 26th at Roberts Pool in Collingswood, New Jersey . Weekday morning practices are held at the same location from 7:15 am through 10:30 am beginning Monday, June 24th. Regular season swim meets are held on Saturday mornings from approximately June 20th through July 25th with the League Championships scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd. Time trials are typically scheduled the Saturday prior to the first meet, and a Masters Meet will be held on approximately Sunday, July 26th. The team-wide banquet to celebrate the season is held shortly after Championships. The ideal candidate would have head coaching experience, strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to connect with children from grades K-12, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport of swimming.
The ideal candidate will work together with the assistant coaches to carry out the day-to-day responsibilities of leading the team, under the supervision of the Marlins Parent Board and the Collingswood Director of Recreation.
Promote a fun, safe and team-oriented environment
Plan and run practices for each age group
Maintain control and safety of swimmers
Provide stroke technique instruction to beginning, intermediate, and advance swimmers
Supervise the swimmers during practices, meets and any other swim periods.
Prepare meet lineups following guidelines outlined in team bylaws (Hy-Tek experience desired)
Maintain swimmers’ meet results in Hy-Tek
Review meet results, including disqualification issues, and work with swimmers to improve performance
Help with setup and breakdown of all practices and swim meets
Supervise efforts of assistant coaches
Attend practices, meets, the annual Masters Meet, and the end of season banquet
Supervise distribution of team awards
Serve as the primary communicator to assistant coaches, parents, and swimmers.
Attend and participate in Collingswood Marlins Parent Board Meetings.
Report unusual maintenance problems or irregularities to Collingswood Director of Recreation or Pool Manager.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Valid CPR/AED, First Aid certification

Ability to problem solve and act calmly and rationally in all situations Preferred experience:
