STINGRAY BACKGROUND

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS-STINGRAY TEAM DIRECTOR/HEAD COACH

  • Responsible for the day-to-day direction, hands on guidance and involvement in all aspect of the Stingray Swim Club, including working with swimmers, parents and coaching staff.
  • Responsible for effectively coaching one or more age group levels as well as setting strong, positive, enthusiastic and highly energetic tone for all age groups.
  • Oversees and manages the process of meet selection, meet entries, scheduling and coordinating of home and away meets.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, supervising, evaluating and managing the performance and professional development of all Assistant Coaches.
  • Develops and implements the latest and most effective training plans for stroke technique, training, dryland progressions and taper strategies for a wide range of swimmer ages and abilities.
  • Provides active involvement in the recruitment, development and the progression of swimmers in all age groups that will both maintain and grow team membership.
  • Works with all swimmers and parents in determining appropriate goals; and, fosters in swimmers, important attitudes and skills such as discipline, goal setting, time management and healthy habits that will benefit them throughout life.
  • Regularly communicates with swimmers and families through a variety of channels and methods, including but not limited to regular swimmer and parent meetings, newsletters, emails, SPD/SSSC websites, etc.
  • Responsible in securing team and meet sponsors as well as the coordination of all team fundraisers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS-ASSISTANT DUIS CENTER MANAGER

  • Develops and promotes aquatic programs and activities including but not limited to social and competitive programs/activities for youth and adults, private and group lessons, clinics, camps, and special events.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of pricing and other strategies to recruit new and retain current aquatic participants.
  • Recruits, recommends, selects, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates part-time personnel under the direction of the Duis Recreation Center Manager.  Conducts an on-going evaluation of the District’s aquatic related staffing needs and makes adjustments to ensure programs operate efficiently and create an environment for success.
  • Monitors trends in aquatic programs to ensure the District is offering the best/latest in facilities, equipment, programs, and activities.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and prepares specifications and purchases of aquatic related equipment and supplies.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative planning and working relationships with other local community agencies and service organizations.
  • Evaluates assigned areas on a regular basis.  Prepares and issues reports as needed and as requested.
  • Coordinates staff, pool schedules, swim meets and other events with the Duis Recreation Center Manager.
  • Publicizes aquatic related and other assigned programs/areas/activities to the community through a wide variety of formats with the assistance of the Duis Center Manager and the District’s Marketing Manager.
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget; recommend expenditures for assigned areas in accordance with said budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Certified or ability to become certified in CPR/AED, First Aid and Coach’s Training
  • Certified USA Swim Coach
  • A valid Illinois State Driver’s License (Class D).
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.

COMPENSATION

Applicants should have a minimum one year of swim coaching experience at the recreational level and a personal competitive swimming history is a plus.  Additionally, strong knowledge of stroke fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and good organizational skills are a must.  Preference will be given to those with experience in athlete development, team management skills and USA coaching certification.  We desire candidates who will be dedicated and committed to attending all practices and meets through the end of our competitive season.

Condition of Employment:

Successful candidates must pass a background check and provide current certifications in CPR and First Aid and Lifeguard, WSI, Coaches Safety Training or the equivalent.  Additional training may be required upon acceptance of employment.

DUTIES:

  • Water-side
    • Direct one or multiple group as assigned by CEO/Head Coach, including the management/running of daily practices, handle all administrative duties for the group (communication, entries, etc.), and supervise all assistant coaches assigned to the group. This must be done in a direction that supports the coaching philosophy and direction of the club as established by the CEO/Head Coach.
    • Establish and maintain relationships and open communications with swimmers and parents
    • Meet with the Age Group staff to outline practice sessions, meet schedules, and to discuss problems and/or opportunities.  The candidate will be able to function as a team player in planning and strategy.  The Head Age Group coach will provide direction as seen in the vision of the team by the CEO/Head Coach and the Dry Side Operations Coordinator.     • Work together with parent members of COPS Leadership Council to assure all meets and other COPS activities run as efficiently as possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Tigard-Tualatin Swim Club is conducting a search for a dynamic Head Age Group Coach. TTSC is a multi-site team that operates out of pools in both Tigard and Tualatin, OR. We currently have approximately 140 swimmers ranging from age 5 to 18.

Scope:

The Head Age Group Coach of the Tigard-Tualatin Swim Club demonstrates leadership and responsibility for the administration of aspects relating to the age group programs of the club.  S/he will be involved in all aspects of the TTSC program, including (but not limited to) scheduling, training, performance, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, competitive program aimed at athletes age 14 and younger.
  • Plan and conduct 2-3 hours per day of on-deck coaching, working with our Senior Prep group (ages 11-14).
  • Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches (email, phone, face to face).
  • Coordinate and develop group goals and curriculum.
  • Maintain up-to-date performance reports on age group athletes.
  • Coordinate online meet entries (Team Unify) for all age group meets.
  • Attend all scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required.
  • Assist Head Coach with planning seasonal practice and meet schedules.
  • Assist with team tryouts and swimmer assessments for group placement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (exercise science, education, or related field preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ successful experience as a Head Age Group or Head Coach with a USA Swimming team is preferred.
  • ASCA Level 2 or above preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive and energetic presence with a passion for teaching technique.
  • Proficiency with Team Unify web services, meet entries, and communication.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety, and Safe Sport certifications and membership in good standing with USA Swimming.

Preferred start date: April 2nd, 2018 (the beginning of our long course season). The position will remain open until filled. Salary range $24,000-$28,000, commensurate with experience.

Assistant Swim Team Coach

Position Summary:

Under direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will run practice sessions for swimmers

focusing on technique progressions. The Assistant Coach will help develop the team vision as directed

by the Head Coach and will effectively communicate to and educate practice groups ranging from 10

to 25 swimmers. In addition to communicating with swimmers, the Assistant Coach will also openly

communicate with parents and be available to them as a resource. The Assistant Coach will maintain

proper supervision and discipline over all practice sessions and meets. Most of all, the Assistant Coach

will strive to foster a lifelong love of swimming in all athletes.

Essential Functions:

Assist Head Coach in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique,

endurance, stroke development, drills, dry land, goal setting, etc.

Lead structured practices

Record all workouts and track daily attendance via On Deck Application

Limit cell phone use to taking attendance during practice

Assist the Head Coach with administrative matters relating to the team, swim meet

arrangements and team performance as well as interaction with parents

Assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations. Record

times at swim meets.

Attend all swim team events to include, but not limited to, social events and meetings (if

needed).

Attend all home swim meets and commit to out of town meets on weekends as staff schedules

Engage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim team environment.

Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for swim team participants.

Work directly with coaches, parents, Board of Directors, and swimmers in regard to the

expansion and continued success of the Helena Lions Swim Team.

Notify Head Coach and Treasure of move-ups and/or when a parent communicates that the

swimmer will not be swimming anymore.

Communicate core concepts to multiple age and ability levels simultaneously.

Respond to emails, texts, etc., from parents within a 24-hour time period

Meets and maintains all necessary qualifications, certifications and renewals as set forth by

Montana Swimming

Qualifications:

2+ years experience as a competitive swimmer (preferred but not required)

2+ years swim coaching experience (preferred but not required)

Fundamental understanding of competitive swimming. (Summer League, High School, Age

Group, College, etc.)

Demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and

be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parents

Enthusiastic, dependable, and dynamic presence with good communication skills

Desire to learn and grow as a coach

Connecticut Aquatics Club, LLC, a coach-owned USA Swimming Club, is looking for a full time employee whom would like both a coaching and business experience. Connecticut Aquatics Club (CAC) owns both a competitive swim team and a sports apparel/equipment franchise called Destination Athlete.

The pool location is located at UCONN Avery Point in Groton CT. Destination Athlete’s territory is Eastern CT and Rhode Island. CAC has 80 swimmers on the swim team, 20 master swimmers, and 20 members in the INTRO to Competitive Swimming Program with a waiting list. The swim team includes 1 USA Junior National, 4 ISCA National Cup, 5 ISCA Elite Age Group, and 9 USA Sectional Qualifiers.

CAC is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and industrious individual to both coach and help take Destination Athlete to the next level. The candidate that would best fit this position would have 3+ years of coaching experience and have an interest in assisting an apparel/equipment business. Computer skills would also be helpful. Recent college graduates who are interested in coaching and that competed at a high level in recent years and/or have a business degree should apply! Possible relocation expenses available!!

Start date is April 1st, though for the right candidate, an earlier start date is possible.

Salary will be commiserate with experience and will include a base salary, hosted swim meet bonuses, and commission from the apparel business. Opportunities also include private lessons, clinics, and starting a swim lesson program on weekday mornings.
