Duties: 

  • Responsible for effectively coaching one or more age group levels as well as setting a strong positive, enthusiastic and highly energetic coaching tone for all age groups.
  • Oversees and manages process of meet selection, meet entries, and scheduling and coordinating of home and out of town meets.
  • Communicates, consults and works closely with Owner including attending meetings with reports and updates on the team’s performance and progress.
  • Develops and implements the latest and most effective training plans in stroke technique, training, dryland progressions, and taper strategies for a range of swimmer ages and abilities.

SUMMARY

The Aquatic Center Director will manage the operations and programs of the Aquatic Department for the City of Pine Bluff.  They will be responsible for supervising water safety instruction, life guards, water aerobics instructors, and other assigned by the Parks Director.  They must demonstrate a strong personal commitment to the mission and goals of the Parks and Recreation Department while carrying out their assigned responsibilities in accordance with the City of Pine Bluff’s policies and applicable laws.

  1. Plan, schedule, supervise and coordinate the operations of the City of Pine Bluff’s aquatic programs; plan and direct recreation activities, athletic events, sporting events, games, classes and special events; evaluate and analyze issues and recommend solutions; assure activities are in compliance with all laws, policies, regulations, goals and safety standards.

 

  1. Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of assigned aquatic staff; plan, prioritize and assign tasks; orient and train staff,  conduct in-service training, monitor work and evaluate performance; coach and instruct employees as required; establish and enforce work methods, procedures and standards.

 

  1. Assures staff maintains safe, playable and aesthetically pleasing aquatics recreation venues and events, and adhere to policies and procedures for efficient and safe operations.

 

  1. Monitors and recommends the maintenance of aquatics recreation venues, equipment , materials and other assets; inspects recreation program venues & pools, identifies conditions needing repair or maintenance and requests maintenance services.

 

  1. Maintains program accounting and administrative records, manages expenditures, tracks revenue and monitors budgets; oversees procurement activities for supplies and equipment in accordance with the City of Pine Bluff’s purchasing policies; prepares operational statistical and financial reports on recreation programs, special events and cost recovery analysis.

 

  1. Schedules all reservations for use of the aquatic facility.

 

  1. Analyzes aquatic programs, operations and service delivery issues, reports all accidents and incidents and reports and recommends solutions to supervisor; evaluates existing programs for effectiveness and participation and recommends program revisions; reports and resolves complaints, reports safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities.

 

  1. Promotes, organizes and stimulates good relationships with neighborhood and community groups and other agencies; interprets and explains City of Pine Bluff’s aquatic programs and philosophies to groups and individuals, community resources, committees, staff and volunteers; coordinates with other City of Pine Bluff departments and community agencies.

 

  1. Provides maintenance for the aquatics facility, purchases all chemicals, cleaning supplies and parts as needed.

 

  1. Ability to work overtime and nights as needed.

 

  1. Ability to interact with customers, team members and other City of Pine Bluff departments.

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the department. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four year college or university and two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of two years of management experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Head Age Group Coach reports directly to the Head Coach. Looking for a coach who is willing and able to work with young swimmers new to the sport up to high level swimmers capable of medaling at state meets or getting Zone or Sectional cuts.

The team currently does IM based practice, working on all strokes for all swimmers ages 14 and younger. We would be looking for a coach with similar training, goals, and habits.

Willing to work weekends, afternoons and mornings. This position is part-time but would have a guaranteed schedule of 25-30 hours per week.

If the candidate is willing to help with pool maintenance and chemicals it would add another 8-10 hours a week.

The Head Age group coach would have their own group of swimmers ranging in USA “B” times to USA “AAA” times. Ages 7 – 14. They would also cover the Head Coach’s SR And Pre-SR groups when needed and would work along side the head coach with the SR group swimmers on a daily basis.

The position would also help with AM Masters swim and AM SR practice as needed.

Head Age Group Coach is also responsible to be the Head Summer rec coach and oversee the other summer rec coaches (End of May – Mid-July)

The Head Women’s Triathlon Coach will provide the vision, leadership and strategic planning to direct and supervise all activities relative to teaching, training and skill development of triathlon student-athletes in preparation for intercollegiate competitions in support of the College’s mission of fostering an environment which is focused on the spiritual, intellectual, personal and social development of the student-athletes. D&E is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

Responsibilities include:

Student-Athlete Development (55%)

  • Directing and supervising all activities relative to the teaching, training and skill development of student-athletes in preparation for competition
  • Provide technical skill instruction at practices, conduct individual training sessions, scouting of opponents, and team & individual video analysis to aid in growth and skill development of student-athletes
  • Develop and execute practice plans to prepare the team physically and mentally for competition
    Assist in student-athlete preparation for games by contributing strategies and aiding in daily preparation of organized and effective practices
  • Conduct individual meetings with student-athletes to provide on-going assessment and aid in the development of their academic, athletic and personal health and well-being
  • Set academic goals and monitor academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring student-athletes meet eligibility standards & progress towards a degree
  • Inform and direct student-athletes to college academic support resources
  • Monitor and assist in the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes as directed by Team Physicians and Sports Medicine staff
  • Coordinate with Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning staff to organize and monitor the physical conditioning of student-athletes
  • Model behavior which supports healthy social, behavioral, emotional, ethical, and intellectual development of student-athletes

Recruitment of Triathlon Student-Athletes (25%)

  • Directing and supervising all activities relative to the teaching, training and skill development of student-athletes in preparation for triathlon at intercollegiate competitions
  • Recruit student-athletes to meet college expectations for annual roster size in support of the college strategic plan and in compliance with college, G-MAC, NCAA & USA Triathlon policies and procedures
  • Develop and manage a recruiting strategic plan including: promotion of program; development of recruiting pool through personal/coaching contacts, high school visits, attendance of showcases and tournaments; hosting prospect/ID camps and any other resources; identification and assessment of student-athletes; recruiting communication and campus visits
  • Maintain all recruit management and interaction in athletic department recruiting management software system
  • Drive passenger vans and/or College vehicles for team travel or off-campus home events as directed

Internal/External Relations (10%)

  • Work closely with Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance on all eligibility and compliance procedures for the college, G-MAC, NCAA & USA Triathlon
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with ongoing care, strength & conditioning, and injury prevention to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes
  • Maintain consistent communication with the faculty athletic representative to serve in tandem as the academic liaisons to faculty and academic support
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for External Communications with public relations efforts of the program including student-athlete biographical information, statistics, releases, feature story opportunities, and recommendations of student-athletes for awards and special recognition
  • Assist game-site supervisors with pre-game setup of course including benches, sound system, locker rooms, etc.
  • Build campus community and engagement with triathlon program
  • Represent the College and Athletic Department and participate in various community engagement projects and coordinate with external organizations to develop community engagement activities for the student-athletes
  • Welcoming host to visiting teams, coaches, officials, and spectators
  • Active member of the American Triathlon Coaches Association (NFCA)
  • Participate in Davis & Elkins College, G-MAC, USA Triathlon, and NCAA professional development opportunities when appropriate

Financial Management of the Triathlon Program (10%)

  • Maintain budget operations and follow college expenditure procedures
  • Monitor athletic scholarship awards in both short-term and long-term
  • Monitor budget throughout the year with the Director of Athletics and ensure expenditures maintain a balanced budget
  • Coordinate team travel arrangements including reservation and operation of vehicles, lodging, and meals with approval of the Director of Athletics
  • Prepare and submit proposed annual budget
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts following college and department policies (i.e. fundraising, donations, etc.)
  • Responsible for inventory of college-owned equipment and apparel

Responsibilities:
– Act as a first responders in events of injury
– Provide a safe environment (physically, mentally, and emotionally) for guests to enjoy aquatic activities
– Provide supervision of aquatic lessons and programs
– Accountable for upholding and enforcing pool rules to ensure safety of all using the pool
– Responsible for performing the certified lifeguard activities
– Responsible for assisting Aquatics Manager and other lifeguards with daily, weekly, and monthly pool maintenance
– Maintain, document and report any damaged operating equipment and facilities
– Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor
– For Instructors: Teach private & group swim lesson to kids and adults of all abilities

Requirements:
– Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
– Exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages
– Attentive and observant
– Current accredited Lifeguarding Certification (includes CPR/AED and First Aid certification) or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire–WE CAN TRAIN YOU BEFORE HIRE

Requirements:

  • Must be 15 years old or older.

SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTORS
Come join our fantastic pool staff! We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and motivated individuals to develop the swim skills of our participants. Immediate need for weekday afternoon and weekend shifts.
Requirements:

  • 15 Years of age or older
  • Demonstrate ability to relate to children and adults
  • Be able to perform freestyle and backstroke
  • Obtain CPR certification, First Aid, Clearances, Blood borne Pathogen training and any other training necessary to comply with YMCA aquatic standards of excellence

Responsibilities:

  • Lead swim instruction to develop skills of participants
  • Ensure safety of all class participants
  • Communicate positively and accurately to parents
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up pool deck
  • Evaluate participant’s swim ability at the end of each session to determine placement for the next session

JOB SUMMARY:
To assist the Head Coach in developing an aquatics program that meets the needs of all ages and
abilities under the guidelines established by USA Swimming and the American Swimming
Coaches Association.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Previous experience working with children in an instructional and/or athletic setting
 ASCA Level 3 and USA Swimming Coaching Certifications
 Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred
 Years of experience may be substituted for education at the discretion of the
Aquatics Director
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Develop swimmers to the TAGS level.
 Organize and coach practice sessions.
 Uphold and adhere to safety rules.
 Maintains practice requirements and standards for all age group practice groups.
 Responsible for assessment and placement for all athletes in the age group program.
 Communicate with swimmers, parents, and fellow staff members in a professional and
courteous manner.
 Maintain roster and coordinate this information with the Secretary for Facilities.
 Submit all age group meet entries in an accurate and timely manner.
 Coordinate training and facility use with the Aquatics Manager.
 Handle communications with the Age Group Staff, Head Coach, and the Aquatics
Manager.
 Coordinate with the parent club representatives before each scheduled meeting.
 Attend all scheduled meets and other meetings as required.
 Participate in mandatory continuing education/in-service training as required by state
law.
 Perform facility/equipment safety checks as specified by the Aquatics Manager.
 Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.
 Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.
 Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.
 Open and/or closing duties responsibilities as specified by the Aquatics Manager.
 Keep abreast of innovative practices.
 Perform other duties as assigned.
