KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leadership and Oversight
Lead all coaching activities of Malaysia Swimming in accordance with the mission, objectives,
by-laws and policies established by the Association and/or the National Sports Council of
Malaysia;
2. Strategic Planning and Development
Develop a strategic plan for the sustainable and multi-year development of high performance
swimming in Malaysia from junior to the senior level to achieve set performance objectives;
Determine clear and transparent pathways for coaches and athletes at all levels ensuring
developmental objectives are achieved;
Set the direction for the progression of the team from development, youth to senior/elite level;
3. Training and Development
Provide all necessary training manuals, guides, written materials, verbal instructions, or actual
demonstrations to elucidate the principles and objectives of the prescribed training. This includes
the provision of any new or revised training materials;
Develop quality training programmes that maximises swimmers’ potential and performances,
including periodisation planning;
Work with relevant parties to incorporate sport science elements into the daily training
programmes and competitions;
Monitor daily training sessions, ensuring the implementation of planned programmes with the
correct quality and intensity;
4. Team and Individual Objectives
Set overarching goals for the team, assistant coaches, state coaches and individual swimmers;
Develop and foster a positive team culture amongst coaches and swimmers that motivates and
enables high performance;
5. Coordination and Participation
Plan and coordinate participation in scheduled competitions, training camps, clinics and
workshops and all professional development opportunities;
6. Performance Metrics, Measurements and Reporting
Collaborate with the Head Coach and other coaches in setting KPIs for each training phase and
competition to achieve long-term multi-year objectives;
Prepare comprehensive monthly reports or any other reports as required or instructed by the
Management;
Ensure data collection for performance/training is managed and gaps analysed to maximise the
efficiency of coaching, training and performance across all levels to meet performance
objectives;
7. Coach Development and Structure
Develop and implement a coaching structure/plan that spans from development to senior levels
that builds capacity and ensures development and performance objectives are met;
Facilitate and conduct workshops, and engage in communication amongst coaches in the
sharing of knowledge, technical expertise, education and awareness;
8. Training Camps and Programmes
Consistent implementation of training camps at both state and national levels to ensure
continuous developmental and performance objectives are met;

QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or related field. A Master’s Degree
would be an added advantage;
2. Minimum of 10 years experience in elite high performance coaching or a similar high
performance sporting environment;
3. Proven track record in leading, managing and developing high performance programmes;
4. Strong understanding of sport science, nutrition, and physiotherapy in the context of elite athlete
development;
5. Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills;
6. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including the
National Sports Council of Malaysia, athletes, coaches and sport science professionals;
7. Proficiency in using modern training technologies and methodologies towards obtaining high
performance;
8. Previous experience in a similar role would be highly advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Serve as the recruiting coordinator for the Men’s & Women’s Swim and Dive program.
  • Maintain effective communication with prospective student-athletes, the coaching staff and Office of Admissions.
  • Assist with on-deck coaching, training, and skill development.
  • Assist with data management and meet management using Hytek.
  • Arrange and conduct on and off-campus visits with prospective student-athletes.
  • Plan, execute and maintain all aspects of the program’s social media sites.
  • Teach physical education activity courses in accordance with assigned load during the academic year.
  • Accept a collateral assignment (i.e., assist with game management, admin responsibilities, student-athlete Education, etc.) within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Create a training program for IM/Stroke Swimmers.
  • Function as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Attends training as assigned.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualification Guidelines

 

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

 

Experience/Training/Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years swim coaching experience or three years of college swimming experience.
  • Must have a clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of athletics in a private, liberal arts academic setting
  • A valid California Class C CA drivers’ license with a good driving record is required. Note: Out-of-state licenses are valid until appointment. A valid California Class “C” driver’s license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (in accordance with CA Vehicle Code 12505c).

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Technical knowledge of Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving and the demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge.

JOB SUMMARY:

Multnomah Athletic Club is looking for a confident coach with strong leadership skills to motivate and enhance our program, who is passionate about working with youth athletes primarily 14 & under but is comfortable coaching all levels. This coach needs to be able to have good decision making skills that are in the best interest of the athlete and the program and be able to create a safe and positive environment in order for our athletes to be able to reach their potential.

The Assistant Coach is on deck coaching for multiple squads ranging in age from 5-18 years 6 days per week. Average deck time is 21 hours per week. Additional meet and travel time both locally and nationally as needed and outlined by the head coach. Administrative duties will include consistent and timely communication with all swimmers and their families, squad management, new athlete registration, event planning and utilization of software systems (MS office, Team Unify, HyTek), and running Summer Swim Camps at the club. The Assistant Coach will plan their squad’s seasonal practices, meets, travel, athlete education and their own professional development with the guidance of the Head and Age Group Coach. Requires Current Coach Member in good standing with USA Swimming, SafeSport and Lifeguard Certification. Minimum 3 years swim coaching experience and a passion for the sport along with professional drive.

  1. Experience coaching Novice through Championship Age Group Swimmers.
  2. Bachelor’s degree or 5 years related work experience.

JOB SUMMARY
Eagerly and enthusiastically conducts group and private swim lessons in a safe and fun teaching environment.  Teaches members of all ages and abilities appropriate skills according to the MAC swim lesson program. This is a part-time position with variable schedule and hours. Starting wage from $16 per hour.

HIGHER EARNING OPPORTUNITIES AWAIT: Once hired, and after a probationary period of teaching group classes and possessing exemplary performance, you can become eligible to teach Private Lessons! Earnings for Private Swim Lessons can be $50 per hour!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, and in accordance with the Christian nature and purpose of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, the Director of Competitive Swimming / Head Swim Team Coach will be an integral leader as we seek to continue our growth and success in competitive swimming.  YSSC is a registered USA Swim and National YMCA Swim team that competes in local, state, and national level swim meets.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications –A 4-year college degree is required.  ASCA level 4 or higher preferred.

Experience – Five or more years of competitive swimming coaching experience, YMCA experience a plus, with a background in supervising and developing swimmers, coaches, and volunteers.  Must be safe sport certified.

Essential Functions

The incumbent must have the competencies, relationship-building skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out his/her duties in accordance with the YMCA’s mission and strategic plan of the Association for serving the community. An understanding of YMCA programs and the YMCA as a membership-driven organization is a must.  Other important competencies of the Director of Competitive Swimming / Head Swim Coach include the following:

  • Directs the operation of the YSSC program, including coaching and training of swimmers, supervision of coaches, coordination of volunteers, and management of all aspects of meets.
