Position Summary

Sharks Swim Club is seeking a full-time Director of Development to lead and oversee our Age Group and Developmental programs (typically ages 14 & under). This position plays a critical role in shaping the foundation of our athlete pipeline while supporting families, coaches, and long-term club growth.

The Director of Development reports directly to the CEO / Director of Performance and works collaboratively with staff and leadership to ensure program alignment, operational excellence, and a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Oversee all training and developmental operations within the Age Group and Developmental programs.
  • Supervise seasonal training groups and ensure consistency with the Club’s long-term athlete development model.
  • Coordinate curriculum alignment, technical progression, and seasonal planning across age group levels.

Coaching & Staff Support

  • Coach assigned groups as directed by the CEO / Director of Performance.
  • Mentor and support age group coaching staff to ensure quality instruction and alignment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Parent Education & Communication

  • Design and implement a structured Parent Education Plan including seasonal meetings, newsletters, and educational resources.
  • Maintain timely, professional communication with athletes and parents.
  • Educate families on long-term development expectations, team culture, and SafeSport standards.

Program Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Learn to Swim and Swim Fit programs to ensure quality experiences and smooth progression into competitive pathways.
  • Collaborate with staff to maintain program consistency and retention.

Culture & Events

  • Support and help organize monthly team events and initiatives that strengthen club culture and community.
  • Coordinate with staff to promote participation in team-building activities.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Approve and submit staff timesheets in accordance with payroll timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Treasurer and leadership team on seasonal program budgets.
  • Attend staff meetings and Board meetings as requested.

Qualifications

  • USA Swimming coach in good standing (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong background in age group swimmer development.
  • 5+ years of coaching experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership ability and collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to SafeSport policies and athlete well-being.
