Singapore Aquatics is seeking an experienced and dynamic NTC Senior Co-Lead Coach to lead one of our three main squads within the National Training Centre (NTC) Squad. Key Qualifications and Experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Quality and Growth

• Aquatic Operations > Leads the aquatic operations to ensure membership engagement, acquisition, retention, and continuous improvement to include, but not limited to:
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Establishes and expands aquatic and other program activities within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

  • Meeting/exceeding revenue goals (net) for new and existing program membership and optimizes the center(s)’ membership
  • Leveraging marketing resources and drives frequent/regular community, web and social media communications and engagement.
  • Assists with identifying and attending community events to promote Y membership.

Operations/Team Leadership

• Administrative > Manages daily business and administrative functions as it pertains to the aquatics program.

  • Directly serves as American Red Cross Branch lead which includes, but not limited to: setting up classes, sending email communications and documentation.

  • Ensures adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff.
• Strategic Planning > Develop strategies for short- and long-term needs of the program and effectively leads and manages a stable team toward established goals and objectives.   • Attends best practice sharing meetings with other aquatic leaders across the Y as needed and throughout the industry

  • Analyzes data about member satisfaction and interests to ensure connection to aquatic programs, services, and other members.
  • Collaborates regularly with center leadership, program operations, and other related teams to ensure the member experience is consistent, integrated and aligned with member needs.
  • Implements relationship development strategies to increase membership engagement and retention.

Safety and Risk Management

• Ensures all Tampa Y program standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
• Ensures all program associates are properly trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
• Maintains proper records, including associate certifications, meetings, and trainings.
• Schedules associates and volunteers in accordance to safety and program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.
• Monitors programming to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.

Education/Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Health Sciences, Physical Education or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of aquatic or similar with supervisor experience preferred.
• Experience as an aquatic faculty trainer (Youth Swim Lesson and/or Lifeguard instructor) preferred.
• Experience working in a Y (or similar) 1,500+ unit membership base organization supervising or serving in a leadership role preferred
• Supervision of budget exceeding $500,000 preferred (or equivalent budgeting and/or goal achievement)
• Proven results in increasing program quality and growth through exceptional planning and organizational skills.

• preparing the teams for practice and competitions on a weekly basis,
• overseeing and providing counseling, training and conditioning for the athletes,
• ensuring the rules compliance of the NCAA, Conference and the University in the athletic program with the assistance of the compliance Services on campus,
• immediate reporting of suspected or confirmed rules violations.

2.         Assists in the planning of the program. 

This involves:

• handling the details of road games as requested by the head coach – this includes; coordination of meals, making hotel reservations, coordinating practice schedule
• meeting regularly with the Head Coach to ensure a clear understanding and dialogue of all aspects of the program,
• assisting in the management of practice as permitted under NCAA rules
• coordinating use of on-campus facilities in conjunction with the Asst. AD for Facilities
• maintaining accurate files and documentation on the athletes including information for the annual report, recruiting and contracts,
• Assisting in the coordination and execution of on-campus recruiting

3.         Assists in the completion of tasks that will allow the program to maintain their budget as allocated from the university

4.         Assists in the coordination of student athlete programs in ensuring the success of the team.

5.         Assists in organizing and administering a quality summer camp program as requested.

6.         Assists the Head Coach in promoting the University. 

This includes:

• being responsible for a great deal of public relations responsibilities to radio, TV, the media and University Alumni and service groups,
• producing a program that exhibits success and growth each year due to a great amount of spectator, faculty and media interest and the potential for more University revenue,

• organizing and conducting a quality summer camp to promote the University and generate additional income each year.

7.         Receives annual written approval from the Director of Athletics and the President prior to receiving any athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the institution including contractual agreements and letters of appointment.  Sources of income shall include but are not limited to:  income from annuities; sports camps; housing benefits (including preferential housing arrangements); country club memberships; complimentary ticket sales; television and radio programs; and endorsements or consultations with athletics shoe, apparel or equipment manufacturers.

8.         Participates in the professional development of the department. 

This involves:

• attending divisional and departmental gatherings and seminars to understand the University and its goals and objectives,
• attending regular staff meetings,
• monitoring developments in the NCAA and the Conference through attendance at workshops, seminars and related associations and organizations,

• promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the community and the campus.

9.         Promotes safe and secure working conditions. 

This involves:

• promoting proper utilization of equipment, materials, staff and athletes,
• notifying the supervisor immediately of any unsafe conditions.

Immediate opening needs to be filled.  The head coach is in charge of the men’s and women’s swim teams.  The head coach will be responsible for daily practices(dryland and swimming), meet day coaching and preparation.  The position requires the head coach to be responsible for all facets of SA performance athletically and academically. Current head coach will hand over all current recruits and assist as long as feasible. Head coach maintains the budget (All uniforms, travel and meet schedule is already in place).  The head coach will operate in the the Department of Athletics and follow all department rules as well as NCAA and conference (SCAC) rules and regulations.
Head coach is a full time position and has one full time assistant coach and one volunteer assistant currently.  There are 25 swimmers on roster with 85% of those freshmen or sophomores.

Asst. Swim Coach Position Responsibilities

• Lead 2 Age Group programs at LA Swim Club.
• Partnering with LASC Age Group Division Heads, develop and execute appropriate seasonal and practice plans for age group swimmers.
• Develop a positive, motivating environment that creates a culture of athlete acheivement.
• Continuesly track and evaluate swimmer’s progress and adjust training plans as needed.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and the swim club management.
• Attend swim meets and other club events as required.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a swim coach or as a collegiate swimmer. Club high school swimmer experience may be considered as a qualification.
• We are looking for people with a passion to work with young people and for the sport of swimming and the lessons it teaches.
• Strong knowledge of swim techniques, training methodologies, and competition strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certifications preferred, but not required.  We can help get c0aches certified in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard and coaching requirements.

Hours & Pay Rate:

• 12-20 hours of on-deck training time per week.
• 1-3 swim meets per month.

COM Aquatics Center is a nationally renowned aquatic center in the middle of this thriving community. Established in 1967 by a group of Midland parents, COM Aquatics has grown into a comprehensive aquatic center over the past five decades. COM consists of a 50 meter Olympic size swimming pool, a world class diving facility with one- and three- meter springboards, and three, five, seven, and ten-meter platforms, two aerobics pools, a 25 yard lap swimming pool, a leisure pool with lap lanes and varying depths, two complete dryland gyms, a comprehensive learn to swim department, fully equipped fitness center, and the largest physical therapy clinic in the area.

COM’s programs have broadened over the years to include aquatic therapy, water aerobics, and a comprehensive physical therapy practice established in 2007. With over 700 child athletes and 1,500 adult members, COM offers a range of programs from learn-to-swim lessons to competitive dive and swim teams, and fitness programs like yoga and water Tai Chi.

The center has produced numerous athletes who have competed at various levels, including Junior National, Senior National, NCAA Division I, Olympic Trials and The Olympics (Natalie Hinds). The center employs approximately 110 employees, about half of which are part-time. The Executive Director currently has a well-functioning Leadership Team in place of about 10 direct reports.

The Ideal Candidate
