General Summary:
We are seeking a Head Coach to oversee all aspects of our aquatic programs, including direct coaching responsibilities. The overall objective of the position is to continue to guide and grow our swimming program to produce the highest attainable levels of competitive excellence in individual and team performance. It is expected that the Head Coach will foster positive relationships, mentor as appropriate, and communicate well with their coaching staff, swim team members, parents and the club’s Board of Directors. The Head Coach must develop the skills and talents of the team members and coaching staff while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and encouraging personal development and excellence. The Head Coach will also be expected to work in partnership with Lyons Township High School pool management, Illinois Swimming and other valued stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Serve as the overall Head Coach for the team’s competitive swim program
• Design and implement a training program that ensures consistent standards across team levels with emphasis on stroke technique, physical conditioning and competitive success
• Oversee Diving, Masters and Water Polo programs
• Manage day-to-day operating issues, including (but not limited to):
• Facilities procurement with Lyons Township High School
• Organize weekly staff meetings and provide feedback to coaches
• Plan team practice schedules and meet schedules, including team and coaches travel, meet entry assignments, and other meet administrative duties
• Evaluate training plans with the age group lead coaches to encourage swimmers to develop short and long-range goals
• Plan and lead parent meetings
• Organize and manage all coaching and administrative staff assignments, responsibilities and career development, including:
• Review and evaluation of staffing levels
• Assignment and delegation of duties
• Supervisory and evaluation responsibilities of coaches
• Develop training plans for coaches’ development
• Manage all hiring and personnel decisions for coaching staff
• Required to travel periodically with athletes to “away” meets.
• Attend Board meetings and provide monthly reports
• Finance responsibilities including:
• Assist in preparation of an annual operating budget with the business manager.
• Implement and manage expenditures in accordance with approved budget.
• Review and obtain Board approval for any required changes to budget.
• Communication responsibilities to team as well as Board, coaches, parents, LSC and public relations:
• Provide communication on a variety of topics including training tips, meet preparation, injury prevention, nutrition, college recruitment, etc.…
• Assist swimmers in understanding potential college swimming opportunities and provide individualized recommendations (either verbal or written) as requested.

Mental Requirements, Attitude and Approach:
• Must possess vision for Lyons Aquatics and the ability to maintain and communicate that vision through all swim levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communications as well as demonstrated ability in fostering teamwork
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to deal effectively with all levels of employees, club members, athletes, parents, Board members and outside personnel
• Acts as a role model for swimmers with a positive, proactive manner which inspires and support the athletes
• Up-to-date on latest coaching techniques through research and/or continuing education through USA Swimming or ASCA
• Strong understanding of overall balance of training for distance and sprint, taper techniques, both in water and dry-land, for all age groups and strength/conditioning work throughout the entire program
• Ability to develop and implement a cohesive vision and coaching philosophy throughout the program, building swimmers from novice through senior levels
• Encouraging athletes to strive for their personal best

Knowledge, Skills and Other Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in swim coaching
• Competitive swimmer experience at college or nationals level a plus
• Experience in the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive competitive swim program
• Current USA Swimming Coaching Certification
• ASCA Level 4 or 5 Coaching Certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with ACTIVE Hy-tek Swim Management programs as well as Daktronics Timing System
• Must pass USA Swimming and Lyons background check and drug test requirements
• Required to maintain USA Swimming coach certification, including first aid and life-saving requirements

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized age group coach.  We are looking for someone who is dedicated to developing  quality age group swimmers through our established curriculum focused on fundamental stroke technique.  This coach will be working directly with our Head Age Group Coach to establish technically efficient swimmers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct – 5-6 workouts per week for approximately 25-30 hours a week. Attends 1-2 swim meets a month.
  2. Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with the LAC curriculum.
  3. Prepare, approve and submit swimmers’ meet entries.
  4. Recommend practice level placement and changes for all swimmers in currently in practice groups and in one group below current training group.
  5. Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within LAC, and communicate regularly with counterpart group coaches at each site.
  6. Creates smaller workout groups within the larger group for the purpose of providing more challenging workouts to all swimmers in the group

 

Qualifications:

  1. College Degree (preferred)
  2. One year competitive swim coaching experience (preferred)
  3. ASCA Level 2 Certified Coach (preferred)
  4. 5 years competitive swimming experience (preferred)

Lakeside Aquatic Club Seeks Dryland Coach – Part Time

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Dryland coach.  We are looking for someone to implement our Dryland exercise program for swimmers ranging from 10-18 years old.  This person would be working directly with our Dryland Coordinator to run trainings at their respective site in the afternoon/ evenings.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct – 15-45 minute dryland/ weight workouts 3-4 times an evening 5-6 days per week for approximately 15-20 hours a week.
  2. Plan, prepare, and conduct dryland practices in conjunction with team’s Dryland Coordinator and accordance with the LAC curriculum.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Program Management
1. Develop, design and implement a coaching program that ensures consistent standards across the entire team, with emphasis on stroke technique, physical conditioning, and competitive success.
2. Create appropriate training programs, and periodically evaluate and ensure that progress towards goals are made.
3. Work closely with assistant coaches to develop an integrated and consistent program for age group and developmental swimmers with an emphasis on stroke technique.
4. Help each swimmer develop short and long-range goals and motivate them to reach their goals.
5. Develop strength and flexibility program for all practice groups as appropriate.
6. Assure adequate coaches are scheduled for meet session coverage.
7. Conduct monthly staff meeting with all coaches.
8. Design and implement a recruiting strategy to support continued growth.
9. Be responsible for supervising, mentoring and evaluating the coaching staff.
10. Be responsible for hiring and, if necessary, terminating coaching staff.

Administrative Responsibilities
1. Responsible for preparing the team schedule for workouts and meets for the year.
2. Organize, review and submit all meet entries in a timely manner.
3. Attend all PVS LSC meetings.
4. Retain full oversight for all administrative duties delegated to coaches.
5. Develop an action plan to meet USA-Swimming Club Development and Achievement Standards.
6. Meet with Head Coach/Owner monthly.
Qualifications
1. Minimum 5 years of Coaching experience, preferably at the Head Coach level.
2. ASCA Level 3 or above Certification or equivalent experience is strongly preferred

Compensation
This is a year-round, full-time salaried position, compensation based on qualifications and experience. The club has traditionally taken a week off of practice during local school system Spring Break, then an extended break from early August thru the start of practice in mid-September.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, and in accordance with the policies of the Stevens Point Area YMCA, the Head Swim Team Coach will oversee all competitive swimming program operations, ensure the safety of program participants, and provide direct member service. This position works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:  Requires a highly motivated person with enthusiastic leadership ability and strong background in competitive swimming. Extensive coaching knowledge and teaching experience preferred. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks with limited supervision; proficiency in computer operations, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Education and Training: Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or a related field. Must be willing to acquire Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications along with all USA Swimming or YMCA related certifications within 90 days.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to easily move through all areas of our facility, and communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Must be able to routinely demonstrate proper competitive swimming techniques and perform functions to members and staff, including and not limited to squatting, bending, kneeling, and spotting program participants. Must be able to tolerate chlorine and temperatures up to 90 degrees with high humidity. Must be comfortable and able to work with children while swimming.

The Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team has a 48-year tradition in competitive development and has been recognized as a 2018 Silver Program of Excellence in USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program after 4 consecutive seasons of Bronze level recognition.

Our goal is to help each swimmer reach the highest possible level of development and competitive achievement. Team members and their parents work with the coaches and staff to attain these objectives. Dedicated, experienced coaches constantly strive to instill confidence and pride in all team members while working to improve various stroke disciplines, endurance and overall racing skills.

The team has 3 local training sites, with the host pool in central Greenwich serving 200-225 members. In 2016 the team had 4 members compete at the USA Olympic Trials.

The Dolphins are a member club of Connecticut Swimming, Inc. We provide our members with an ample series of meets, starting with our popular “in-house” Grand Prix Meets for all age groups and competition at the local, regional, state, zone and national level.

Our unique style of collaborative coaching has all staff members working periodically with all seven of our team levels. This candidate’s work will focus in the 8-13-year old age group levels where they will lead practices.  The candidate will also supplement coaching the entry level and most Senior groups.

The ideal candidate must have high energy and will have 2-4 years of USA coaching background.  The candidate also needs a strong record of teaching, leadership, a strong work ethic and the ability to interact with all YWCA staff and the parent’s advisory group.

Additional skills should include strong verbal and written skills.  They should also have excellent computer skills and be competent with Word, Excel, Outlook, Hy-Tek Team Manager, Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Team Unify web site management. Colorado Timing Equipment experience is helpful.

The candidate will report to the Head Coach and CEO of the YWCA.

Additional skills should include a Bachelor’s Degree and valid certifications as a USA Swimming Coach, Safety Training For Swim Coaches, Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Salary commensurate with experience beginning at $49,500, which includes Medical, Dental and Retirement programs. Candidates will be subject to background checks per YWCA of Greenwich policies.
