Working Conditions:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for developing our Age Group program swimmers (ages 5-14) to be ready to compete at the Jr & Sr Levels.
- Develop and maintain a season plan for the Age Group Program that shows increased knowledge of the progression of our age group program and develops innovative techniques that show success and improvement. (This includes yardage and technique goals as well as how the group is being differentiated).
- Responsible for writing a monthly report on the prior month’s success, needs for improvement, and goals for the next month.
- Work collaboratively with the head coach to develop and follow through on program goals to enhance a club that is consistently trying to meet its mission/vision while always trying to innovate.
- Assist Head coach as needed.
- Supervise swimmers in the pool area at all times.
- Responsible for helping maintain a safe atmosphere by adhering to all USA swimming rules and regulations and providing positive and constructive feedback to our swimmers and parents.
- Must show an ability to work with and communicate well with all age group parents and athletes.
- Greet, acknowledge, and interact with members at all times.
- Create an educational, safe, and inviting experience for all participants.
- Initiate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with all participants
- Provide a safe, clean, and organized pool area
- In charge of:
- Aiding head coach with setting calendar – practice & meet schedules
- Aiding head coach with staffing and staff schedules
- Staff mentoring & development (including professional development)
- Aiding head coach with team/organization planning & development (including help starting & staffing a learn to swim program)
- Meet entries for age groups swimmers
- Aid in the management of age group travel.
- Maintain team practice and master calendars and report the monthly calendar to our school district (rental) liaison.
- Run monthly meetings with age group coaches
- Vacation – two weeks in August and one in March built-in as well as one during either Thanksgiving or Holiday Break (concurrent with school breaks), or upon request and approval.

The Peddie School is seeking a dynamic, inspiring Junior Program Director to help support our nationally-renowned swim team and continue its success. The Peddie Aquatic Association has a legacy of success by consistently placing among the top teams at Sectionals, Junior Nationals, the U.S. Open, and US Nationals. In 2021 PAA was recognized by ASCA as a Top-100 Age Group Team. Peddie has produced a number of athletes that have represented the United States at various international competitions, including the Olympics. Peddie Aquatics is a multi-tiered program consisting of a swim school all the way to pre-competitive and competitive teams. The Peddie Aquatic Association calls The Peddie School Natatorium home, located in Hightstown, NJ just 10 miles from Princeton, and 30 miles from the New Jersey coast.
Responsibilities:
- Daily coaching responsibilities will include the direction of the Junior Performance practice group, which features our top-level age group athletes. The group is made up of competitive swimmers ages 11 to 14.
- Will assist with evaluating swimmers’ techniques, developing swim programs, and overseeing daily training, while recruiting new team members & preparing for swim meets.
- Develop, promote and manage the competitive swim team in an efficient and fun manner consistent with the Peddie Aquatic Association standards.
- Train and evaluate qualified coaches to effectively operate all levels of the Junior Program.
- Develop and implement seasonal and long-term plans for the progression of our age group program and develop innovative techniques that demonstrate success and improvement.
- Maintains safety at all times during practices, swim meets, or other team functions. Acquire and maintain necessary certification as established by USA Swimming.
- Work to create and implement an age-appropriate strength and dryland program to facilitate athletic development and smooth transition between groups.
- Assist in overseeing the Peddie Swim school, with awareness to help bridge swimmers into the age group program.
- Develop and implement team and individual goals with the swimmers and Head Age Group Coaches, and monitor the progression of the athletes and team in reaching these goals.
Administration:
- Work with the Head Coach and the rest of the staff to ensure the club’s mission, vision and values are achieved.
- Demonstrate a cooperative, prompt, and respectful communication style with swimmers, parents, community members, and members of the staff.
- Maintain and update website information regarding practice schedules, meet entries, news, etc.
- Create meet entry files and submit entries to meet coordinators.
- Maintain a professional standard of safety, appearance, and readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field preferred.
- Must be CPR/AED certified (lifeguard certified preferred) and maintain current USA coaching certifications.
- Competitive swimming experience, knowledge of competitive swimming, or previous coaching experience is required.
- Experience in personnel supervision, recruitment, training, and development of staff and volunteers.
- The ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, parents, and the general public is essential.
- Good organizational and written/oral skills are necessary.
