Sectionals finalist Jackie Furches has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of California, Davis beginning in the fall of 2027.

A rising senior at Yorktown High School in Virginia, Furches has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming and diving team for the past three years and currently swims year-round with Arlington Aquatic Club. She primarily specializes in free and fly.
Furches qualified for the VHSL (Virginia High School League) Class 6 State Championship three years in a row, with her top performances coming at the 2026 iteration of the meet in February. She placed 7th in the 500 free (5:07.43) and 8th in the 200 free (1:53.88), and she helped Yorktown to a state championship title in both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
At the 2025 Titans Big Southern Classic back in November, Furches posted a string of top swims, earning a second swim and clocking a new lifetime best in each of her events. She placed 8th in the 500 free (5:01.31), 14th in the 200 free (1:53.32) and 100 fly (57.17), 15th in the 200 fly (2:07.92), 18th in the 200 IM (2:10.17), 19th in the 200 back (2:09.01) and 27th in the 100 back (59.23). She also finished 23rd in the 50 free (24.94) after setting a personal best time of 24.80 during prelims.
The 2026 Potomac Valley Open Championships saw Furches lower her top times even further in several events. She took 6th in the 50 fly (25.56 – PB), 9th in the 200 fly (2:05.02 – PB), 12th in the 100 back (58.17 – PB) and 16th in the 50 free (24.73); she logged a best time of 24.51 during the preliminary heats of the 50 free.
Furches also holds lifetime best times of 52.19 in the 100 free and 1:51.82 in the 200 free from the Liberty District Swim Dive meet in January.
Furches recently competed at the 2026 Speedo Sectionals in Richmond (LCM), where she earned a second swim in one event and posted personal best times in four events. She placed 17th in the 200 fly (2:22.89 – PB), 34th in the 50 fly (29.47 – PB), 39th in the 100 fly (1:06.12 – PB) and 40th in the 200 free (2:11.85 – PB). She also contested the 50 free (28.84).

A Division I Mid-Major program, UC Davis competes in the Big West Conference, with the women’s team taking the runner-up spot at the conference championships this past season. Based on the results from the 2026 Big West Conference Championships, Furches would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 fly, setting her up to be a strong contributor right from the start.
On the team itself, Furches would have ranked 3rd in the 500 free, 5th in the 200 fly and 7th in the 200 free this past season. With another full season to go before Furches joins the team, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out.
Furches is currently the only confirmed recruit committed to join UC Davis’s class of 2031, but there is plenty of time for the recruiting class to grow over the next year.
