Junior Nationals Qualifier Sammy DaJusta Sends Verbal To Pitt For 2027-28 Season

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Junior Nationals qualifier Sammy DaJusta has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

I’m excited to announce my commitment to study and swim at the University of Pittsburgh! I want to give a huge thanks to my family, all my coaches, and teammates for being a part of my journey thus far. I also want to thank the Pitt Coaching Staff for this opportunity. #H2P!

The Ohio native is heading into his senior year at Upper Arlington High School, where he has competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team as a freshman and junior. He also currently trains year-round with Upper Arlington Swim Club, primarily specializing in the 50-500 freestyle and sprint butterfly.

Over the course of the 2025-26 short course season, DaJusta had a major breakthrough in the 100 fly. He entered the season with a lifetime best of 52.53 in the 100 fly and dropped nearly three seconds by season’s end, to 49.87. He also cut over half a second in the 50 free, from 21.49 to 20.90, more than two seconds in the 500 free, from 4:36.48 to 4:34.25, nearly a second in the 200 free, from 1:39.34 to 1:38.64, and about a tenth in the 100 free, from 45.61 to 45.53.

On the high school scene, he helped Upper Arlington to silver in both the 200 free relay (20.54 split) and 400 free relay (44.40 split) at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I State Championships in February. He also touched fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 free with his current lifetime bests, finishes that followed a third-place showing in the 200 free and a sixth-place finish in the 100 free as a sophomore, and a 24th-place finish in the 100 free as a freshman. He closed his season at the Ohio Tim Myer Senior Championships, winning the 500 free in a personal best, in addition to placing 12th in the 100 fly in a current lifetime best, 15th in the 50 free (20.93), and 26th in the 100 back (52.68).

DaJusta is both a Winter Junior and Summer Junior Nationals qualifier; his highest finish across both meets was 45th in the 200m free last July.
