Backstroker Grace Wey Announces Transfer to LSU from Texas A&M

Grace Wey, originally from Sugar Land, Texas, has announced on social media that she plans to finish her NCAA eligibility at Louisiana State University beginning in the fall of 2021.

“I am very thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Louisiana State University! I am super grateful for the opportunity and for my friends, family, and coaches who have helped me throughout this process! Geaux Tigers!!!💜🐯”

Wey graduated from Apex Learning Virtual School in the spring of 2019 and headed to College Station to swim at Texas A&M University. In her freshman season, she qualified for SEC Championships where she competed in the 100/200 back and 200 IM. She notched PBs – earning NCAA B cuts – in all three events.

At the SEC Championship, Wey earned NCAA B-cut times in the 100 back (53.19), 200 IM (1:59.48) and 200 back (1:56.68), beating her personal best times in all three and making the B final in the 100 back.

Wey will join the Tigers with incoming LSU freshmen Abby Maoz, Emily Pawlaski, Jenna Bridges, Maggie Lynn Buckley, Peyton Curry, Reagan Sweeney, Regina Caracas, and Sasha Ramey.

I do not doubt it. She announced her decision to transfer to Houston then switched it to LSU.
