Dynamo’s Peyton Curry to Join Older Brother, SEC Champ Brooks, at LSU in 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Dynamo Swim Club sprinter Peyton Curry is following in her older brother’s footsteps, announcing her verbal commitment to the LSU Tigers for 2021.

Brooks Curry is a rising sophomore with LSU; in one season with the program, he went from 20.65/44.53/1:38.88 in the 50/100/200 free to 19.30/41.81/1:32.43, winning the SEC title in the 100 free and becoming one of the big stories of the 2020 SEC Championships.

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 free – 23.15
  • 100 free – 50.37
  • 200 free – 1:50.23
  • 100 fly – 56.72
  • 50m free – 26.17

Peyton Curry qualified for the finals of the 50 free at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Champs – East in December, placing 20th overall. She also led off their A 200 and 400 free relays, going a lifetime-best 50.37 to lead off their runner-up 400 free relay. On the 800 free relay, which also placed in the runner-up position, she clocked a 1:51.12 on the second leg.

LSU is in need of sprint talent; last season, they had only two women under 23 in the 50 free and two under 50 in the 100 free. Both of those swimmers, Olivia Taylor (22.4/49.9) and Katarina Milutinovich (22.7/48.8), were just freshmen this past season. Curry, then, will get two seasons of overlap starting in 2021. Curry will likely have a spot on both sprint free relays as soon as she gets to campus.

Curry joins breaststroker Abby Maoz and breaststroker/IMer Sasha Ramey in the LSU class of 2025.
