2024 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

It’s officially a family affair. Alex Walsh made the Olympic team in 2021, and last night her younger sister Gretchen joined the exclusive ranks of being an Olympian by winning the 100 fly at Trials in Indianapolis. Alex was elated for her sister having achieved this monumental goal and shared an emotional moment with her in the mixed zone afterward.

Really like these two. A little off topic since we’re talking Olympics but a buddy pointed out to me it’s not inconceivable that they could end next spring with 14 (out of 18) NCAA records.

Gretchen: 50 free, 100 free, 200 free (she led off in 1;40.2 this year); 100 fly, 100 back.

Alex: 200 IM (is 0.9 away), 400 IM (1.5 away), 200 fly(0.9) and 200 breast (0.7, I believe).

Plus, all 5 relay records. (They have 4 currently).

Why do these Alex support comments have a good amount of downvotes already? Who doesn’t like Alex?

Australians. And it’s not a dislike of Alex. It’s more generalized towards USA Swimming.

Is she dropping the final considering she did a PB? I feel like she needs as much rest as possible.

What a great family.
