Vegas Odds Updated After Prelims Session Of 2024 Paris Olympics

There have not been many changes in the odds from DraftKings after one session compared to last night. After one session, the biggest events that saw a change were the ones that had prelims this morning. Only a few other events that did not have prelims had a change.

The men’s side continues to have Adam Peaty as the favorite in the men’s 100 breast but Qin Haiyang and Nic Fink fell after their morning swims. The men’s 400 freestyle retains its order although Lukas Maertens appears as a larger favorite now.

The women’s side saw Katie Ledecky pass Summer McIntosh in the 400 freestyle odds as Ledecky posted the top time of the morning. The two are still listed behind defending champion and World Record holder Ariarne Titmus. The women’s 100 fly odds did not see a change in order although Zhang moved up as the 3rd favorite.

After a 4th place swim in prelims, the US men still appear to be the favorite in Vegas in the men’s 4×100 free relay while the Australian women’s 4×100 free relay showing only grew their odds.

*downvotes* anything related to betting on a sporting event

Surprised that the odds on Dressel winning the 100 fly remain the same after that relay leg this morning. Some have speculated that he’s timing his peak for the latter half of the week, though, which would make sense. Also a little surprising that the odds on Martens in the 200 remain the same after he looked so sharp in the 400 this morning. But the 200/400 guys have always been at a disadvantage in the 200 to the 100/200 guys simply because they’re more tired by the time the finals of the 200 roll around on the third day. (They really should switch the 200 free and 100 free in the schedule, not just for that reason but also… Read more »

Historically Dressel is always slower at the beginning of these meets. Just kinda his thing.

China to win 4×100 is a smart bet.

This bookie still hasn’t realised Mollie O’Callaghan isn’t swimming the 100 Backstroke.

I’d rule Qin out of the 200 breast entirely. It seems that his injury is still nagging given his prelim time, since he usually goes fast in prelims. Still has a shot at a medal in the 100 but it’ll be tough. Peaty is favorite for gold.

Is it delusional to think that Sam Short at +400 is too good to pass up?

If you can get that after prelims (and you’re playing maturely, looking for value), I think that’s a smart play.
