Correctly picking a swimmer to place:
- 1st – 7 points
- 2nd – 6 points
- 3rd – 5 points
- 4th – 4 point
Correctly picking a swimmer to place in the top 4 but putting them in the wrong spot, will earn you 2 points.
Picks will close at 5AM US Eastern Time on July 24, and at that time, we will post everyone’s picks for them to see.
You CAN go in and edit your responses up until 5AM on Saturday. You can also use this “edit responses” ability to go in and print or save your answers.

I cannot pick Magic man to win all of the mens and women’s golds, and he is not listed as his own country for relays. I am inconsolable
sadly no internationals, but good luck to everyone else 🙂
You can still participate you just can’t win a prize.
You are right. Like me, I take part only to know how close my prediction will be to the actual results; also comparing to other people prediction.
I’m so ready to come last in this but I love it
You won’t come last. There are always a few people who submit half-responses, or like pick their child’s college teammates to win every race, that make up the bottom 50 picks or so.
“Picks will close at 5AM US Eastern Time on July 24, and at that time, we will post everyone’s picks for them to see.”
Does it mean everyone who login will be shown only the result corresponding to their own prediction ?
I cannot imagine how such a large amount of data will be presented if everyone can see other people result.
Will it also show the score of all participants in particular order, including ones that are not eligible for the prize ?
I am quite sure I will be in the top 10, although I am not eligible for the prize. 🙂
I picked the Aussie women to choke in the individual events to keep up the tradition during the textile era (post supersuit era).
I pick your name to change to the Aussie 4×100 med gold medalist medalist by end of the Olympics.
McKeown-Hodges-McKeon-Campbell has a nice ring to it!
He has so little faith in the US women’s team that he hopes other teams chokes, so they can win.
Yes it does sound far better name.
Thanks, it assures me that my score will be far above yours. 🙂
They won’t. But we can speak about the relays, too. How many will be won by the USA in both gender?
Finally!!!!
Didn’t see women’s 1500
Picked mostlly US and Japaneze swimmers as winners, yanks always come good in the Olympics and Japan as a host nation is bound to have a great meet.
Thanks for reminding me, I didn’t realize Japanesse swimmers will be racing in their home pool. I think I need to edit my prediction to include some host potential swimmers, at least for 4th place.
How did you not realise that?
I was too focused on several big names and some potential newcomers like David Popovici that I overlooked Japanese swimmers except those who are obvious candidates like Daiya Seto and Shoma Sato. I forgot Japanese people usually would be proud to give everything in front of their home crowd.
I have edited my post to include several additional swimmers.
For Shoma Sato, I have changed his position from 2nd to 1st in 200m breaststroke and put him at 3rd place in 100m breaststroke.
I don’t think anybody will win against Chupkov in 200 and Kamminga can win 1 silver and 1 bronze. 100 is very crowdy after Peaty, (and Kamminga) and there’s Stubblety-Cook and Kamminga) in 200. We’ll see.
I know that, because I also read on Fina website. However, I have considered other factors like original poster said about Japanese swimmers in their home town. As you said, though, we’ll see.
There should be a special “goes against the grain” award for anyone who correctly picks a non-favourite winner for the following:
M100 Breast that isn’t Peaty
M200 fly that isn’t Milak
M100 fly that isn’t Dressel
W4x100 free that isn’t Australia
W800/1500 free that isn’t Ledecky
I would not say picking Titmus in the 800m is the biggest upset possible (however unlikely)….
Guilty of picking against Ledecky in the 800!
I mean, in a sense there is. They’ll get +5 points against almost every other selection.
Correctly picking upsets is really the only good way to win the pick ’em contest…
Ah… thanks. At least I think I will obtain additional +5 points for my bold prediction. 🙂
I pick an interesting guy to upset Adam Peaty.
