Race Videos: Watch Fink(e), Flickinger, And Dressel Add Their Names To The Team

2021 U.S. OLYMPIC SWIMMING TRIALS

On day 5 of the 2021 US Olympic Trials, Bobby Finke, Nic Fink, Hali Flickinger, and Caeleb Dressel each won their races and officially added their names to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic roster.

Finke was first, winning the men’s 800 freestyle in a 7:48.22, and will likely be joined on the team by Michael Brinegar who hit a 7:49.94 for second place.

Next up, Nic Fink qualified for his first-ever Olympic team by swimming a 2:07.55 200 breaststroke and was followed by Andrew Wilson who also came second in the 100 breast and will likely be swimming that double in Tokyo.

In the women’s 200 butterfly, Hali Flickinger officially booked her ticket to Tokyo after a 2nd place finish in the women’s 400 IM. She will now likely race both of those events this summer. 100 backstroke victor Regan Smith seems to have added a second event to her lineup by taking second place in the event.

After days of waiting, Caeleb Dressel finally got to officially join the team with his 100 freestyle victory with a 47.39 100 butterfly. Second place there went to Zach Apple with a 47.72 and a solid group of men followed them and will be in contention for relay swim.

Dressel looked like he was slipping/spinning in the last 25m which I assume is a result of not fully resting. If he’s on a normal Troy taper and lengthens back out, 46.8 is definitely in play.
