NCAA Relay All-American Lucy Mehraban Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA relay All-American Lucy Mehraban has entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” designation. Mehraban just finished her sophomore season at Louisville.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mehraban committed to Louisville just months after returning to the sport after she took two and a half years off in high school. She won the Michigan High School state title in the 50 free as a senior just 3 months after returning to the sport.

She qualified for NCAAs as a freshman and swam two lifetime bests at 2024 NCAAs. She finished 19th in the 100 free in a 47.82, 34th in the 200 free in a 1:45.51, and 37th in the 50 free in a 22.20. She also split a 47.17 for Louisville’s 400 free relay that finished 3rd.

As a sophomore, Mehraban made NCAAs once again and this time made her first individual final as she finished 16th in the 100 free. She swam a 47.81 in prelims which was a lifetime best. She also matched her lifetime best of a 1:45.51 in the 200 free as she was 33rd. She also swam a 22.08 for 28th in the 50 free. The team’s 400 free relay finished 3rd once again and Mehraban split a 47.25.

Mehraban’s Best SCY Times:

  • 50 free: 22.05 (2025 ACCs)
  • 100 free: 47.81 (2025 NCAAs)
  • 200 free: 1:45.51 (2024 and 2025 NCAAs)

Mehraban is the latest name to enter the portal as other NCAA All-Americans that have entered the portal this season include Bella Sims, Macky Hodges, and Mackenzie Miller.

Entering the transfer portal does not require a student-athlete to transfer rather it allows for the student-athlete to discuss with other coaches about the possibility of transferring. On rare occasions, the student-athlete returns to their original school.

I don’t get this one. She’s dropped time, had great results, is on a team that consistently peaks at NCAAs, and seems like they have an incredible team culture. Maybe there’s something I don’t know about, or maybe she just misses home.

just bc someone elects to transfer doesnt always mean theyre rejecting or scorning their current program (a push factor) — sometimes its as simple as a different program that might be closer to home now looking more attractive than when they originally committed (a pull factor)

I like how we’re both insinuating she’s going to Michigan lol, watch her pull a full 180 and head to somewhere on the West Coast

Cal, Michigan, and Arizona State are the schools I’m hearing thrown about most.

IDK, Stanford was able to get 54 points out of people named Lucy this year. Seems like a natural fit.

I have always been under the impression that transferring into Stanford is quite difficult from an academic and admissions perspective.

Bottom was UM coach during her recruitment time. It was surprising she didn’t want to go to UM given proximity to home, but now maybe she’s talked to friends who are happy w Bowe and wants to return. Would be fabulous for Michigan!
