JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Description / Working Relationships

The Aquatics Director is responsible to the Athletics and Activities Director for overseeing the WAB aquatics activity programs.

The Aquatics Director will manage the daily operations of the pool and ensure a safe, healthy, stimulating and attractive aquatic environment for all WAB programs. He or she will be responsible for the pool as a facility and resource for the school.

Actively promote and provide leadership and support for all PE aquatics programs and ASA activities. The Aquatics Director will be directly responsible for the TigerSharks Swim Team.

The Aquatics Director will regularly schedule professional training sessions for aquatics staff to ensure staff qualifications remain current and that staff members remain proficient in carrying out their responsibilities.

The Aquatics Director will need to work closely with the Properties Department, Principals, WABX Department, PE Departments, and Aquatics Staff.

The Aquatics Director is expected to liaise with and support the PE Departments, through the relevant HOD. The Aquatics Director is expected to attend relevant collaborative planning and scheduling sessions.

Where scheduling permits, the Aquatics Director should be present for all TigerSharks training sessions, and for a number of PE Curriculum lessons as appropriate and necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATION
The WAB Aquatics Director is responsible for:

10. updating, implementation and compliance of risk management policies and procedures for the pool facility.
11. ordering, maintenance and proper storage of aquatics equipment necessary for all programs (activities and curriculum)

This individual will work with our head coach to develop the whole team, and will work specifically with the 12-under program. This position requires a candidate with strong administrative, communication and people skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the head coach, leading the age group program (especially the developmental program)
  • 2-3 morning practices during the school year and 5-6 evening practices
  • 2-3 morning practices during the summer and 4 evening practices
  • 2-3 meets/month
  • Perform administrative functions including, but not limited to, swim meet entries, parent and athlete meetings, tracking attendance, merchandising, meet management, newsletter/website/social media content, and managing team statistics

  1. Sport specific athletic interns will serve as an assistant coach, reporting to the head coach of their respective sport(s).   2. Interns for positions combined with Athletic Event Operations will serve as a member of the Events Operations Team, attending regular weekly meetings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: participating in all aspects of Events Operations, including setup, staffing, breakdown, and logistics of intercollegiate competitions and events; assist the Events Operations Team in coordinating and maintaining its transportation fleet.

  4. Intern for Sports Information will serve to assist Director of Sports Information in a number of capacities; preparing news releases and feature articles highlighting intercollegiate athletics, and maintain athletics records and statistical files. Additionally, the intern may update the Regis College Athletics website, promote athletes and the department for regional and national honors, develop and coordinate media coverage for all home events, and manage the social media for the Department of Athletics.
  5. Intern for Athletic Administration – Coordinator for Athletics Events Operations will focus on responsibilities related to the day-to-day event operations within the Department of Athletics, including, but not limited to; facility scheduling, coordinating officials, game day protocol and staffing, transportation needs, and other tasks assigned by the Athletics Administration.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Assist the Head Coach for the specific sport with the organization and administration of the competitive program, with attendance at all practices, games, and official team events throughout the academic year.
  2. Assist the Head Coach in the recruitment of student-athletes.
  3. Assist the Head Coach in any video editing/exchange needs.
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program to raise funds necessary to offset expenses associated for non-budgeted expenses and training trip as appropriate.
  5. Assist in the organization of community service projects for the team members to complete per the mission of the NCAA, the Regis Athletic Department and Regis College.
  6. Assist in the implementation and supervision of team-specific academic enrichment programming
  7. Evidence a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing the specific sport competition at the collegiate level, and adhere to the rules and standards established by Regis College, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, the ECAC and the NCAA (Division III).
  8. Participate in Athletic Department staff meetings, functions and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics Administration.
  9. The Graduate Intern will comply with University rules and regulations.
  10. Serve as a member of the Intern On-Call (IOC) rotation.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; admission to one of Regis’ College’s graduate programs.
  2. Prior successful playing or coaching experience at the college level preferred; significant successful high school or club experience considered.
  3. Strong organizational skills required.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills to work with various college constituencies.
  5. The ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule.

Under limited supervision and direction, the Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the Swimming and Diving Program for the College.  Using independent judgment and discretion, the Assistant Coach has responsibility in such critical areas as instructing student athletes, recruitment, supporting student athlete academic progress, budget management, scheduling, managing travel, compliance with NCAA and NESCAC rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures, and ensuring that the overall integrity and image of the program meets the College’s high level of excellence.

Assistant Coaches will be responsible for teaching a minimum number of Physical Education classes, a mandatory requirement of the undergraduate Hamilton curriculum.  Assistant Coaches will also be required to perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned.

Primary Duties:

The following list provides examples of the primary duties of the Assistant Coach.  However, these duties are not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities or requirements.

  • Teach the fundamentals of the sport during meetings, practices and games
  • Teach enrolled students in classroom setting in the general area of physical education
  • Devise and implement athletic strategies for the team
  • Cultivate and support the academic development of student-athletes by monitoring the academic progress and status of team members and implementing action plans when appropriate
  • Identify, evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes
  • Assist with administration of Program’s budget through monitoring expenditures for purchase of equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate on-campus team meals with Bon Appétit to ensure nutritional and dietary needs of student-athletes
  • Collaborate with Sports Medicine regarding injury prevention strategies and student-athlete rehabilitation techniques
  • Ensure the safety of all student-athletes by scheduling practice sessions in compliance with applicable rules and regulations, overseeing selection and fitting of team equipment and making recommendations for improvements to equipment and supplies
  • Plan and organize team travel including coordinating appropriate budget with Athletic Business Office for travel and related expenses
  • Manage alumni relations and coordinate correspondence with alumni, boosters, and parents
  • Promote the Athletics Department and Program through community events, public speaking, fundraising and marketing
  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the Athletics Department, Program and College
  • Ensure adherence to all NCAA, NESCAC (or other conference) and College rules by athletes, supporting staff and others and reporting of any potential issues to Head Coach and/or Athletic Director
  • In absence of Head Coach, and with approval of Athletics Director, ensure continued operations of Program and assume Head Coach duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Attend seminars, conferences and other professional development opportunities

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in an appropriate area of specialization and experience coaching and/or playing at the intercollegiate level is required. Evening and weekend work is necessary.  Candidate must have a valid active driver’s license.  A successful background check is mandatory.

We are looking for a competitive and charismatic individual to fill the year round salaried position of Head Coach. We seek a coach who is enthusiastic to develop the individual swimmers and the team to the fullest potential. The coach will design, coach and lead practices for our five swim levels. The head coach will also recruit, train and manage assistant coaches to develop our swimmers to the highest level possible. Practices are typically between 3pm to 8pm on weekdays and 8am to 12pm on weekends with meets on weekends during the season. Minimum Qualifications:

Located about an hour south of Washington D.C., Stafford is a growing area with a lot of opportunity and potential. As we are developing the program in a new area, we are looking for someone who is energetic and passionate about the sport, someone who is dynamic and willing to learn, and someone who has a proven record of developing and inspiring swimmers to succeed.

Job Tasks Include:

  • Plan and conduct swim practices in accordance with the Head Coach and other coaching staff.
  • Attending scheduled USA swim meets, as well as assist with FISH-hosted meets, eventually as Meet Director.
  • Recruitment of new swimmers, including conducting summer stroke clinics at several pools in the area.
  • Administrative tasks such as meet entries, communications, newsletters, and updating The FISH website.

 

Qualifications:

  • Coaching Membership in good standing with USA swimming.
  • Minimum 2+ years coaching experience, preferably at the Club level.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of TeamUnify.
  • Knowledge of Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Team Manager preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire swimmers of all ages and create a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
