Essential Job Tasks

Program Supervision

 

  1. Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and LAC Code of Conduct and LAC policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct team practices in accordance with the LAC curriculum and the guidelines provided by the respective Lead Group Coach.
  3. Follow a seasonal, weekly, and daily training and practice plan provided by the respective Lead Division Coach for assigned groups
  4. Know the swimmer roster and assist in keeping accurate attendance records.
  5. Know the following for each assigned training group: skill list, appropriate drills, and appropriate instructional language.
  6. Arrive and stay on deck 5 minutes before and after all practices and meets in order to supervise swimmer safety, provide swimmer feedback, provide correction regarding technique, build professional swimmer relationships, and assist the respective Lead Group Coach.
  7. Attend assigned swim meets.
  8. Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within LAC.
  9. Substitute for other coaches as needed within LAC at an hourly rate previously arranged through the Site Coach and the LAC Head Coach. This includes substituting during practice and swim meets.

 

Program Retention and Recruitment

 

  1. Proactively develop and maintain relationships with current swimmers through constructive feedback, encouragement, and general interaction.
  2. Foster professional relationships with current swimmers in order to motivate, inspire, and retain swimmers in the program.
  3. Proactively develop and maintain relationships with current parents.
  4. Attend LAC practice group and team activities.

 

Parent Communication and Education

  1. Establish relationships with parents through professional interaction.
  1.   Help guide parents in getting their questions answered.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Attend or thoroughly read Staff Meeting notes in order to stay informed about LAC activities, events, and schedule changes.
  2. Actively participate in LAC committees, depending on professional interest and as time permits.
  3. Stay current with advances in the sport through books, periodicals, websites, audiovisual materials, classes, clinics, and by communicating with other clubs or teams.

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 1 + years prior coaching experience as a USA Swimming certified coach.
  • American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 1 or higher
  • Must be current on all USA Swimming Coach Membership requirements.
  • In good standing with all USA Swimming required safety and background check requirements.

A.    PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE

Report to the Vice President (Diving) and responsible in supporting the Executive Director. To ensure, that within the guidelines and constraints determined by Singapore Swimming Association (SSA), the head coach is responsible for the overall high performance organisation and management of the Singapore National Diving Team, including development of the athlete and coaching pathways.

B.     JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.      Effective Relationship and communication with SSA’s Partners and Stakeholders

Work closely with the SSA’s partners and stakeholders including Sport SG, affiliates, other national federations and sponsors to ensure alignment.

 

2.      Logistical Organisation

Work with the Diving Sports Manager to develop and implement plans to meet the expected needs of the athletes, coaches , officials and support staff before and during the tour. This includes booking of flights, accommodation, entries for meets, provision of meals and transportation. Ensuring team Singapore meets the technical guidelines provided by organisers.

 

3.      Technical Responsibilities

 

Overall in charge of the high performance programs of the elite, development and talent ID national diving squads, assisted by 2 assistant diving coaches.

Development of Multi Year sports plan (2016 to 2020), that includes a regenerative pipeline for a national diving program that brings our divers to Olympic qualification levels.

To train local coaches with the ability to coach Learn-to-dive programs that prepares divers to get into our Talent ID program.

Work closely with the diving sport manager to develop and implement plans for Coaches Education/Development for local coaches.

Work closely with the Singapore Sports Institute Scientist Support Group on high performance plan to provide sports science and medicine support for national athletes.

Visit local diving clubs to study how they operate at a coaching level and develop coaching strategies and athlete development pathways that will help the clubs increase their pipelines and improve from the developmental to the high performance level.

Creating a well rounded lesson program supporting all levels of divers. To build a skills progression program that supports each diver regardless of level

 

 

4.      Team Communication

Communicate SSA policies to all team members (including but not limited to Team By-Laws, Anti-Doping Policy, Member Protection Policies) and complete incident reports of any breaches.

 

5.      Team Budget

To prepare and implement the national high performance team budget.

 

6.      Reports

Follow up all incidents and report to VP (Diving) on final outcomes.

Database of athlete performance and progressive updates on individual diver’s performance and training plans

 

C.     JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS

 

Experience

Possess relevant diving coaching certifications

Qualified in all aspects of dryland and water overhead spotting harness and hand assisted spotting

Qualified to teach overhead harness and hand spotting for diving coaches (USA, UK, and Australia)

 

Experienced in coaching divers successfully at major international meets.

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the issues relating to managing a major national team at an international meet.

Has the demonstrated capacity to coordinate activities, people and resources and to maintain appropriate monitoring and controls.

Experienced in dealing with international and national media and press conferences.

Demonstrates technical knowledge of diving to enable understanding of specific diving administrative procedures and technical requirements of the athletes and other officials.

  10. Administer all operations of Germantown Swim Team’s Team Unify webpage and enter and register swim participants into meets.
  11. Confer with participants and parents to resolve grievances, explain rules and regulations and discuss fees.
  12. Develop yearly budget estimates projecting revenues and expenditures.
  13. Keep records and prepare reports regarding finances and program activities including participant registration, fees collected, and payroll for instructors.
  14. Serve as liaison between the Germantown Athletic Club and Germantown Swim Team Parents organization by attending meetings and providing and obtaining information.
  15. Help organize all meets hosted by Germantown Swim Team by obtaining approval from regional conference and sending invitations and event information to desired participants.
  16. Assist with Club staff CPR/FA certifications as a Red Cross Instructor.
  17. Must be punctual and timely in meeting all job performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance and tardiness standards and work deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work takes place in and around pool facility and an office. Traveling is required to attend swim meets, meetings, clinics and conferences.

This position averages 12 hours a week, Monday-Friday from 6:15-8:15 pm during the week and 7-9 am on the weekends. Attendance at weekend meets is also required.

Job Description:

  • Attend scheduled practices and meets

Heartland Aquatics (HLA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit swim club in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is seeking an experienced, energetic, dynamic, motivated leader to serve as Head Coach of our growing USA swim team. HLA’s current membership is comprised of over 100 year-round athletes, spanning all competitive levels from novice to Junior National qualifiers. HLA’s mission is to develop swimmers to their fullest capabilities and, in the process, teach life balance, citizenship, and dedication to the rewarding sport of competitive swimming. Primary Responsibilities:
Management of day-to-day direction and operation of growing program with 100+ swimmers;

Development and implementation of a competitive swim program, to include stroke technique training, development of dryland progressions, taper strategies for a range of swimmer abilities, etc.;

Management of appropriate athlete goal-setting, evaluation and tracking;

Development of seasonal swim meet schedules and team-building activities; recruitment, hiring, managing, and directing assistant coaches;
