Highlands Ranch Aquatics (HRA) seeks an age group development coach passionate about teaching and motivating young athletes. HRA is a USA Swimming Bronze Medal Club (a top-200 ranked program nationally), with a history of producing State, Zone, Sectional and Junior National qualifiers, as well as developing collegiate student-athletes.

Candidates must have a background in competitive swimming; must be effective communicators with a positive attitude; must possess a thirst for new knowledge and more effective training and teaching methods; and must also be team oriented and willing to work collaboratively with coaches, board members and parents. Duties include but are not limited to assisting in the development of seasonal training plans, planning and administering daily training sessions, and providing consistent, specific feedback at practice and meets.

The position requires a commitment of 1-2 hours, 5 days per week plus meets 1-2 weekends per month. Hours and days are negotiable and typically include weekday evenings (6:30-8:30pm) during the fall, winter and spring, and weekday mornings (7-8am) during the summer. Practices are run out primarily of the Littleton YMCA, though may include intermittent sessions at Northridge Recreation Center in Highlands Ranch.

Salary is $20 per hour. HRA also covers expenses for out of area travel, professional dues, and continuing education. Candidate must pass a level 2 background check through USA Swimming, must complete CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training through a certification organization such as the American Red Cross, and must pass the USA Swimming Foundations of Coaching exam.

HRA coaches are expected to meet the following standards:
* Be prepared with daily, weekly and seasonal training plans
* Make every effort to have THREE touch points with each athlete each training session
* Provide specific, constructive feedback to the athletes and parents at practices and meets

HPAC in Highland Park, IL is looking for an experienced coach to lead our Age Group program and develop our 12&Under swimmers.  HPAC trains 180 swimmers in a brand new 15 lane pool at Highland Park High School. We currently have 2 Central Zones qualifiers, 6 Illinois Age Group Champs finalists and several Illinois Regional qualifiers.

 

At HPAC we believe in focusing on the positive and building team camaraderie.  We work with our parents to create a unified team to help each athlete attain their goals in swimming.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about swimming and excited to serve as a mentor, educator and role model. This position reports directly to the HPAC Head Coach.

Position begins September 4 and is open until filled.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Oversee the Age Group program by planning and conducting swim practices
  • Attend scheduled meets and help run all HPAC hosted meets
  • Conduct 20-25 hours of on-deck coaching and 15-20 hours of administrative work per week
  • Administrative work will be determined by the HPAC Head Coach
  • Maintain daytime office hours. Respond to all emails and phone calls within 24 hours
  • Establish and maintain relationships and open communication with swimmers and parents
  • Participate in team projects, planning and programs while also supporting team activities

 

The ideal candidate has:

 

  • 5+ years of coaching experience preferably at the club level
  • 1-2+ years experience as the head of an age group program
  • An impeccable understanding of swim stroke mechanics
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)  and personal experience in competitive swimming
  • Track record of swimmer retention & recruitment
  • Ability and desire to work with parents as a part of swimmer development
  • Track record of swimmer development at the State Championship level
  • Intimate working knowledge with Team Unify & Meet Manager

T3i Coaches assigned to Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School (NSWPS) at Great Lakes Naval Base, IL, provide training and development of the Navy’s future Naval Special Warfare Candidates who are organized, trained, and equipped to deliver distinctive expertise in combat and other high-risk environments.

Selected coaches are assigned to a team that is responsible for preparing NSWPS candidates for physical and mental success during their 8 week program.  Daily activities include instruction, demonstration, and application of physical training principles and techniques, with emphasis on body-weight exercises, functional movements, and performance under load.  Coaches have daily contact and interaction with Navy trainees and senior leaders, as well as other staff members, contractors, and vendors.  As such, Coaches must adhere to the highest standards of conduct throughout the course of their daily activities and apply appropriate relationships with trainees, customers, and teammates.

General Summary:
We are seeking a Head Coach to oversee all aspects of our aquatic programs, including direct coaching responsibilities. The overall objective of the position is to continue to guide and grow our swimming program to produce the highest attainable levels of competitive excellence in individual and team performance. It is expected that the Head Coach will foster positive relationships, mentor as appropriate, and communicate well with their coaching staff, swim team members, parents and the club’s Board of Directors. Essential Responsibilities:
• Serve as the overall Head Coach for the team’s competitive swim program
• Design and implement a training program that ensures consistent standards across team levels with emphasis on stroke technique, physical conditioning and competitive success
• Oversee Diving, Masters and Water Polo programs
• Manage day-to-day operating issues, including (but not limited to):
• Facilities procurement with Lyons Township High School

Knowledge, Skills and Other Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in swim coaching

  4. Recommend practice level placement and changes for all swimmers in currently in practice groups and in one group below current training group.
  5. Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within LAC, and communicate regularly with counterpart group coaches at each site.
  6. Creates smaller workout groups within the larger group for the purpose of providing more challenging workouts to all swimmers in the group

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Program Management
1. Develop, design and implement a coaching program that ensures consistent standards across the entire team, with emphasis on stroke technique, physical conditioning, and competitive success.
2. Create appropriate training programs, and periodically evaluate and ensure that progress towards goals are made.
3. Work closely with assistant coaches to develop an integrated and consistent program for age group and developmental swimmers with an emphasis on stroke technique.
4. Help each swimmer develop short and long-range goals and motivate them to reach their goals.
5. Develop strength and flexibility program for all practice groups as appropriate.
6. Assure adequate coaches are scheduled for meet session coverage.
7. Conduct monthly staff meeting with all coaches.

Administrative Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, and in accordance with the policies of the Stevens Point Area YMCA, the Head Swim Team Coach will oversee all competitive swimming program operations, ensure the safety of program participants, and provide direct member service. This position works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:  Requires a highly motivated person with enthusiastic leadership ability and strong background in competitive swimming. Extensive coaching knowledge and teaching experience preferred. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks with limited supervision; proficiency in computer operations, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Education and Training: Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or a related field. Must be willing to acquire Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications along with all USA Swimming or YMCA related certifications within 90 days.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to easily move through all areas of our facility, and communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Must be able to routinely demonstrate proper competitive swimming techniques and perform functions to members and staff, including and not limited to squatting, bending, kneeling, and spotting program participants. Must be able to tolerate chlorine and temperatures up to 90 degrees with high humidity. Must be comfortable and able to work with children while swimming.

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, exempt position; 40+ hours per week; flexible schedule based on swim team practice and meet schedules.
