Boston College Picks Up Winter Junior Nationals Qualifier Kelly Scott for 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Boston College has picked up a commitment from sprint specialist Kelly Scott for its class of 2025. Scott graduated from Xavier College Prep in the spring of 2021 and she is a year-round competitor for the Phoenix Swim Club.

I am so stoked to announce my commitment to swim and study at Boston College! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and my trainer for always believing that I could make it here. So excited for my next four years as a part of the BC family! Go Eagles!

Scott is a Winter Junior Nationals qualifier in the 50 free. She competed at the Speedo Sectionals in March, where she dropped 0.4 seconds from her entry time to pick up the cut. She made it back in the A-final of the event, finishing 5th. She also made it back in the 100 free and 200 free, posting personal best times in those as well. Her 200 free time of 1:52.35 earned her a 2021 Futures cut.

Scott was a team captain for Xavier College Prep. She assisted the team as they finished second behind Chaparral High School at the 2020 Arizona Division I State Championships. Scott picked up silver medals in the 50 and 100 free. She touched 0.04 seconds behind Sandra Day O’Connor’s Caelle Armijo in the 100 and she finished second to Greer Pattison of Chaparral in the 50.

She was a member of her team’s 200 medley and 400 free relays, which both picked up silver medals. She split a 50 free time of 23.43 anchoring the medley relay, and she led off the 400 free relay in a time of 52.21. Scott was named 2020 Arizona Premier Region Swimmer of the Year and was selected for the Arizona Republic All-Arizona Swim Team.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 free – 23.27
  • 100 free – 51.06
  • 200 free – 1:52.35

The Eagles will welcome Scott in the fall of 2021. She will be one of the team’s top sprinters. Last season, her top times would have made her the women’s fastest competitor in the 100 free and their third-fastest in the 50 free. School record-holder and Olympic Trials Wave I qualifier Hayley Dolan posted the fastest time in the 50, going a 22.86 at the ACC Championships.

Boston College had a strong recruiting season for its class of 2025. Scott will be arriving on campus in the fall with Mary Kate Leonard, Jessica Tonole, Samantha Smith, Olivia Howard, Megan Kramer, Liza Murtagh, Hannah Neilsen, and Catherine Bradac.
