Day 7 Finals Event Lineup

Three finals kick off the night with the men’s 50 free leading the way. Cam McEvoy of Australia and Great Britain’s Ben Proud tied in semifinals last night with a 21.38. Both were the top two seeds coming into the meet in the event and now search for the podium. McEvoy won the 2023 World title in the event and is in search of his first Olympic gold as he is now in his 4th Olympics. Proud is the 2022 World Champion and is in his 3rd Olympics.

Jordan Crooks is in search of history, after already becoming the first to make a final, he looks to become the first to medal for the Cayman Islands. He is the #4 seed after swimming a 21.54 last night. Also in the race is defending champion Caeleb Dressel of the US who swam a 21.58 in semifinals.

Phoebe Bacon of the US looks for redemption in the 200 backstroke after finding 5th in Tokyo three years ago. She enters as the top seed with a 2:07.32 from semifinals. Next to Bacon in lane 5 will be Australia’s Kaylee McKeown who is the defending Olympic Champion and World Record holder in the event. She swam a 2:07.57 last night and already won gold in the 100 back this week. McKeown has a busy night as she also will look to make the women’s 200 IM final later in the session.

2020 Tokyo silver medalist Kylie Masse of Canada looks to repeat a podium finish and was 5th last night with a 2:07.92. Regan Smith of the US won silver in the 200 fly last night and silver in the 100 back this week and enters this final as the #6 seed with   2:08.14 from last night. Smith had the 200 fly before the 200 back last night but she will be fresh tonight.

France’s Leon Marchand posted the top time in semifinals of the men’s 200 IM with a 1:56.31 and looks for his 4th individual gold medal of the week. Carson Foster of the US also made the podium alongside Marchand in the 400 IM and is the #2 seed tonight with a 1:56.37.

Defending Olympic Champion Wang Shun of China is also in the final after a 1:56.54 last night. Tokyo silver medalist Duncan Scott of Great Britain also returns with a 1:56.49 from last night.

Kristof Milak of Hungary won silver in the 100 fly in Tokyo and enters semifinals as the top seed tonight posting a 50.19 this morning. He will swim next to Noe Ponti (Switzerland) who won bronze in Tokyo and swam a 50.65 in prelims. Josh Liendo of Canada and Dressel of the US will be in the first semifinal of the event. Both are coming off of the final of the 50 free and are listed to have less than 35 minutes between the events. Liendo had the 2nd fastest time of the morning with a 50.55 while Dressel swam a 50.83.

Canada’s Summer McIntosh continued her momentum after gold in the women’s 200 fly last night and cruised through prelims of the women’s 200 IM with a 2:09.90. McIntosh will have the two Americans next to her tonight. Alex Walsh swam a 2:10.48 in her Paris debut and won silver in Tokyo while Kate Douglass swam a 2:10.70 and won gold last night in the 200 breast.

China’s Yu Yiting will swim out of lane 4 for the first semifinal after a 2:10.28 this morning. Yu won bronze in the event at 2023 and 2024 Worlds. 2024 Worlds silver medalist Sydney Pickrem swam a 2:10.63 this morning and will be next to Yu.

Hoping Regan will finally put her hands on the wall 1st. A best time in the 200fly last night was a positive sign. Hope she also swims a best time in the 200m back final!
