Day 2 of the 2025 Mountain West Championships saw San Diego State, the 3-time defending champs, hold their lead, though, UNLV is sitting just 14 points behind. Nevada isn’t too far behind either, sitting in 3rd just 53 points behind SDSU.
Arguably the most exciting race of the day came at the very end. Washington State, the conference’s newcomer this season, won the 400 medley relay by 0.01 seconds over San Diego State. Anna Raucholz (53.34), Emily Lundgren (58.66), Dori Hathazi (53.84), and Emma Wright (48.29) teamed up for a 3:34.13. San Diego State’s splits are errant on the results, however, it appears Meredith Smithbaker clocked a 48.59 on the anchor. Abby Storm, Moa Bergdahl, and Alex Roberts made up the other legs, helping the Aztecs to a 3:34.14 finish, just 0.01 seconds behind WSU. Nevada was close behind as well, taking 3rd in 3:34.59 after Scarlett Ferris led them off in 51.60.
Prior to helping the Washington State relay to victory, Emily Lundgren won the 200 IM decisively, swimming a 1:57.81. The performance marks a career best for Lundgren, as well as her first time under 1:58 in the event. Not only was it a career, best, Lundgren also broke the Washington State program record with the swim.
Cougar freshman Darcy Revitt won for the Washington State as well last night. Revitt posted a 22.02 to win the 50 free. That swim came after she broke the Washington State program record in prelims with a 21.89. Not only was that swim a program record, Revitt will almost certainly earn an invite to the NCAA Championships next month with that swim.
The session kicked off with Wyoming freshman Macey Hansen winning the 500 free in 4:41.56. The swim marked a truly massive career best for Hansen blowing away her personal best heading into the day, which stood at 4:47.96 from the fall. Her performance also marks a program record for Wyoming.
The diving event of the day was 3-meter, where San Diego State’s Valentina Lopez Arevalo won with a final score of 367.45.
