On final night of the 2021 TAC Titans Spring Invitational, Claire Curzan continued to have a great meet, breaking a Missy Franklin NAG for the 15-16 girls 100 free, swimming a 53.55. You can read about Curzan’s swim here.
Ellie Marquardt, A Princeton swimmer who is competing for TAC, swam a personal best in the women’s 800 free, winning the race with an 8:48.36. The swim was nearly 3 full seconds better than her previous best of 8:51.18, which she swam in early April of this year. It was Marquardt’s first time under 8:50 in the event, and she touched just shy of the Olympic Trials Wave I cut of 8:48.09.
TAC 17-year-old Jacob Pishko won the men’s 800 free, touching in 8:19.53 to finish 20 seconds ahead of the field. The swim was a lifetime best for Pishko, taking him from his previous best of 8:25.42, down under 8:20 for the first time in his career.
Emily Carpenter (TAC), 16, took the women’s 200 back in 2:16.17, marking a huge improvement. Carpenter entered the meet with a personal best of 2:26.40, and dropped over 10 seconds from that time. 15-year-old teammate Will Thompson won the men’s 200 back. Entering the meet with a 2:11.12 personal best, Thompson swam to victory in finals, posting a 2:07.76 for his first sub-2:10 performance.
