The Miami University swimming and diving teams celebrated senior recognition day with a duel win over the visiting Xavier on Saturday, Feb. 4. The women’s team closed out the meet on top 220-58, while the men’s team took the win 176-101.

How It Happened:

  • Swimming events kicked off with the 200 medley relay. The Miami women’s A relay team of Madeline PadavicSara Lahrach-SanchezHonor Brodie-Foy and Nicole Maier took first, earning a combined time of 1:44.64. Owen BlazerAdrian DulayHenju Duvenhage and Jack Herczeg also placed first for the men’s A relay team, earning a combined time of 1:31.28.
  • Audrey Conley finished first in the women’s 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:18.03, with Katheryn Antonowich in third (10:42.18). The men’s team had Evan Kindseth finish first (9:33.23), followed by Yonatan Rosin in second (9:38.86).
  • The women’s team swept the top-three placements in the 200 freestyle, with Mollie Lumsden in first (1:54.30), Camila Lins De Mello in second (1:54.34) and Erin Szczupakiewicz in third (1:54.39). Uroš Djokovic landed in second for the men’s team, earning a time of 1:41.20.
  • Padavic and Jenna Halliday took first and second respectively in the women’s 100 backstroke, Padavic with a time of 57.10 and Halliday with a time of 57.96. For the men’s team, Zach Bann finished first (51.75), while Fitz Miller finished third (52.17).
  • In the women’s 100 breaststroke, Lahrach-Sanchez earned the top time with 1:04.71, followed by Emma Schueler in second (1:06.66). Dulay won the event for the men’s team (56.66), with Trystan Lundgren in third (59.23).
  • Maggie Patterson came out on top for the women’s team in the 200 butterfly, earning a time of 2:05.25; Emily Rinker also placed for the RedHawks, taking third (2:09.55). The men’s team landed Allen Cotton in first (1:51.23) and Jack Clouatre in second (1:53.32).
  • Another top-three sweep came from the women’s team in the 50 freestyle, where Brodie-Foy took first (23.86), Taylor Connors took second (24.13) and Greta Kolbeck took third (24.45). Herczeg gave a first-place finish to the men’s team (20.82), while Matt Fetterman finished second (20.91).
  • Kolbeck (51.91), Julia Waechter (52.00) and Brodie-Foy (52.34) cleaned up the top-three spots in the women’s 100 freestyle. For the men’s team, Herczeg placed first (45.72) and Fetterman placed third (46.87).
  • The women’s team landed Reese Dismukes in first (2:04.59), Lumsden in second (2:05.11) and Halliday in third (2:05.85) in the 200 backstroke. Blazer took first for the men’s team (1:50.02), with Bann in third (1:51.91).
  • Ashley Sego finished first in the women’s 200 breaststroke (2:23.00), followed by Jordyn Homoki in second (2:25.08) and Schueler in third (2:27.09). The men’s event had Benjamin Eichberg finishing second (2:02.64), followed by Paul Brosky in third (2:08.01).
  • In the women’s 500 freestyle, Maier (4:58.74), Conley (5:08.63) and Antonowich (5:10.84) gave Miami the event’s top-three times. Rosin took second for the men’s team, earning a time of 4:42.57.
  • Szczupakiewicz finished first in the women’s 200 butterfly (57.05), followed by Brodie-Foy in second (57.19). The men’s team had their first top-three sweep of the meet, landing Duvenhage in first (49.23), Cotton in second (48.80) and Clouatre in third (50.19).
  • For the women’s 200 IM, Maier came out on top (2:05.49) and Sego took second (2:07.40). Ian Van Gorp placed second in the men’s event (1:53.78), and Dulay placed third (1:53.79).
  • The final swimming event of the meet was the 400 freestyle relay. The women’s A relay team of Connors, Halliday, Waechter and Kolbeck took first, earning a combined time of 3:29.67. Herczeg, Djokovic, Mason Miller and Duvenhage came in second as the men’s A relay team, earning a combined time of 3:03.70.
  • Lauren Melia took the win in the women’s 1 meter dive (291.15 points), followed by Sydney Rice in second (288.83 points) and Madeline Lutzko in third (257.63). For the men’s team, Victor Hearn took first (312.75 points), with John Dymond finishing second (302.70) and David Burke finishing third (271.50 points).
  • The women’s 3 meter dive had a first-place finish from Rice (313.95), with Lutzko taking second (292.50) and Melia taking third (291.98). Dymond earned the highest score in the men’s event (349.50 points), with Burke just behind in second (277.50 points).

Up Next:
The RedHawks swimming & diving teams close out their regular season at home with the Miami Classic, taking place on Friday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 11. Friday’s events begin at 3 p.m., while Saturday has morning events starting at 9 a.m. and afternoon events starting at 4 p.m.

OXFORD, Ohio – Xavier swimming closed out the 2022-23 dual season with a trip to Oxford, Ohio, facing Miami (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon. Xavier collected five first place finishes but the RedHawks picked up a pair of team victories.

  • Kali FischerJulianne LiblerErin Ritz and Clare Bosse led Xavier in the 200 medley relay, placing third with a time of 1:47.13.
  • Clara Keiser placed second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:35.95. She also led Xavier in the 100 free with a time of 52.82.
  • Clare Bosse’s time of 1:54.84 led Xavier in the 200 free.
  • Hannah Pugh placed third in the 100 back with a time of 58.66. She also picked up a third-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 57.51.
  • Kate Lair’s time of 1:06.73 led Xavier in the 100 breast and placed third. She also picked up a third-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.77.
  • Sophia Romero picked up a second-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.56.
  • Reese Turner led Xavier in the 50 free with a time of 24.66.
  • Amy Van Son posted the top time for the Musketeers in the 200 back, 2:07.57.
  • Julianne Libler’s time of 2:28.63 in the 200 breast was the top time for the Musketeers.
  • Sydney Smith led Xavier in the 500 free with a time of 5:21.96.
  • Clare BosseClara KeiserReese Turner and Mary Sweetman wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay.
  • Xavier fell 220-58 on the women’s side.

  • Aiden NeumanWill SeradAiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson opened the event with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.97.
  • Nathan Wall picked up a first-place finish in the 200 breast, setting a time of 2:02.43. He also led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 9:49.19.
  • Andrew Martin picked up a pair of event wins, taking the 200 free in a time of 1:39.43 and the 500 free in 4:35.00.
  • Jon Bernard led Xavier in a pair of events, winning the 200 IM in a time of 1:53.23. He also finished second in the 200 back with a time of 1:50.71.
  • Matthew Adanin led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 52.10, placing second
  • Ethan Saunders placed second in the 100 breast with a time of 57.31.
  • Jack Parker led Xavier in the 200 fly, placing third with a time of 1:53.75.
  • Roark Lundal led the Musketeers with a third-place finish in the 50 free, setting a time of 21.43.
  • Kyle Hudson placed second in the 100 free, finishing in 46.31.
  • Aiden Leamer led Xavier in the 100 fly, setting a time of 50.64.
  • Ethan SaundersEthan WingKyle Hudson and Andrew Martin closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, setting a time of 3:03.38.
