About the facility: 

Located on the campus of Highland High School, the Aquatic Center is also conveniently situated directly adjacent to an elementary school and a middle school, providing access to a population of 4,100 potential program participants all based within 200 yards of the facility. And that’s not even counting the other schools in the district. In addition to the olympic size pool, the facility features seating for 356 spectators, a full-color video display and scoreboard, competition lighting for optimal visibility during evening practices and events, and two 1 meter diving boards. Additionally, there will be boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, a 900-square-foot classroom equipped for swim clinics, workshops, and educational seminars, and an aquatics director office adjacent to the pool deck.

This brand-new facility was made possible by a Highland High School graduate who is the founder of the 661 Foundation. It stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to education and athletics in Kern County. Our state-of-the-art Aquatic Center boasts amenities designed to meet the highest standards of competitive swimming, including an Olympic-size pool.

  • Program Development
    • Develop and implement swimming programs for all ages and skill levels, including swim lessons and competitive swim teams.

What you bring to the role:

  • Proven track record as a Swim Director or similar role, demonstrating the ability to create and implement comprehensive swimming programs tailored to diverse audiences. We are seeking a candidate who has successfully developed innovative and engaging programming that caters to individuals of all ages and skill levels, including swim lessons and competitive swim teams.
  • Experience in curriculum development specific to swimming instruction, including designing lesson plans, skill progression frameworks, and evaluation criteria to ensure program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.

DART is looking for a dynamic Head Age Group coach to lead the Age Group program (14 and under) at our Solano Site.  We are looking for an individual that is looking to make a long term commitment to DART as well as their coaching career.  DART is a multi-site program that includes a very accomplished and experienced staff-we are looking to add the right person to this staff.

 

This position will start in August.  There is flexibility to start earlier or later for the right candidate.


DART is a USA Swimming silver medal safe sport recognized program with three main sites (Davis, Sacramento and Solano.)  The Solano site includes programs at several pools, including a 50 meter pool at Solano Community College in Fairfield.

 

The Head Age Group Coach responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Oversight of the 14 and under program-Solano site.
  • Development of a comprehensive dryland program in collaboration with our dryland coach (partnership with Pinnacle Fitness.)
  • Oversight of our summer seasonal teams-assist the Head Coach with staffing, planning and marketing.
  • Annual, seasonal, weekly and daily planning for practices, competitions and events.
  • Swim meet and event planning and coverage.
  • Support of the overall DART Age Group program.

Work Schedule

This position will include coaching hours and on-site administrative hours.  Additional duties can be completed at flex times based on the individual’s schedule.  Practice hours will include weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings.  Some after hour meetings will be required to accommodate volunteer schedules (committee and volunteer meetings.)

 

Qualifications

At least three years coaching competitive swimming at the USA Swimming, YMCA or College level.

 

USA Swimming coaching requirements or ability to obtain prior to the start of their employment.

 

Experience with Sports Engine, Meet Manager and other swim software is preferred but not required.

 

Ability to clearly communicate to members and their families in a timely fashion.

Philosophy: 

The Noblesville Swim Club philosophy is to create a program that facilitates an environment for individuals of all ability levels to achieve their goals. While surrounding the swimmers with a strong community we take a long-term approach to the development of swimmers by focusing on the foundations of proper technique first and progressive training programs second.

General Duties: 

  • Oversee the entire club program including staff members, swimmers and Learn to Swim.
  • Lead the recruiting process for both new members and staff.
  • Write all workouts for which the Head Coach is responsible for Coaching.
  • Conduct and maintain training sets for future comparison and communication of results/progress to swimmers and/or parents. Software is available for tracking.
  • Monitor and review workouts written by direct reports and provide feedback regularly.
  • Attend workouts of other practice groups during the short course and long course seasons to provide direct feedback to the swimmers and staff, and to be visible to the families. Minimum expectation is 2 workouts per practice group over short course and 1 long course.
  • Be available to staff, athletes, and parents with “Office hours” during season.
  • Network with other clubs to ensure Noblesville Swim Club hosted meets are well attended.
  • Attend all swim meets that the Club participates in. Be present at all sessions in which your assigned group is competing and at least one additional session in which other groups are participating.
  • In the event of absence from a required practice, competition, or any other obligation, it is the responsibility of the coach to not only report the absence to the Board of Directors, but also provide appropriate staffing coverage in their absence.
  • Provide continuing education opportunities to swimmers, staff, and parents on all aspects of the sport of swimming including guest speakers, videos, etc.
  • Monitor athletes for potential injuries and rehabilitation needs and bring to parent, school and/or Boards attention when necessary.
  • Act as the liaison between the High School, master’s swim team, Friends of Central Pool (Forest Park Aquatic Center, and the Noblesville Swim Club, and communicate the information to the Board of Directors.
  • Plan and execute the annual senior trip with the assistance of the senior trip planning committee.
  • Encourage athlete/coaching involvement within the community (i.e. Homecoming float for parade).
  • Oversees team field day during the summer for team building. Looks for additional club opportunities for team building for both athletes, coaches and families.
  • Be the face of the club within the Noblesville and Indiana swimming communities.
  • Assist with fundraising duties when and where appropriate.

 Administrative and Management Duties:  

  • Responsible for the hiring, training, development and mentoring of the coaching staff.
  • Meet regularly with main assistant coaches.
  • Meet periodically with the entire coaching staff to ensure continuity of the club’s vision throughout the club.
  • Set pool usage schedule across all groups to cover all club members with appropriate pool and dryland time based on skill level.
  • Set all training schedules and ensure they are properly communicated to coaches, athletes, and parents in a timely manner.
  • Plan and set the season meet schedules (preferably 6 to 9 months ahead of time). In planning, please follow Noblesville Schools and Indiana/National USA Swimming calendars.
