Louisville freshman Jake Eccelston had a sensational ACCs, dropping nearly 2 seconds in the 100 breast to go from 53.3 to 51.4 (9th) before making his first A-Final in the 200 breast. In that A-Final, Eccleston not only went another huge PB, 1:51.0, but he also broke the 17-18 National Age Group Record held by Josh Matheny.
Eccelston relayed how much the team environment of Louisville has helped him excel this year, particularly his training partner Denis Petrashov, who he has yet to beat in a race this season.
Well Petrashov is 7 years older than him. Welcome to college swimming 2025.
Edit: I’m also sure Petrashov is an awesome guy and a hard worker. It’s just a wild number to be 6 years and 1 month older than a teammate. He’s also not the only one.
I doubt that’s the headline bro wanted 😂
This kid could be a legit threat to make the team in 2028. Congrats on the success so far and good luck going forward!
