I’ve been thinking who was missing that could have made this meet even more record-breaking, and the obvious one that comes to mind is Marchand. But who else beyond him on the men’s side? Of the events that weren’t broken on the men’s side:

100 free – I think we got as close as we were going to get to Chalmers WR with Crooks and Alexy. Maybe Pan or Popovici could have taken a crack but I’m not sure they’re as good in SC as LC

400 free – Maertens, Short, Woomin?

800/1500 – Wiffen, Finke

Backstrokes – no one? Ceccon is not as good in SC as he is in LCM, Murphy is still very good but I… Read more »

Forgot about Xu Jiayu in the men’s 100 back. Let me know if there’s anyone else I missed

Is the pool 3 meters deep the entire length? Someone with data on this please respond. Also what type of gutters? Has there been a flow test to determine if there is any negligible current from the filtration? It would be very interesting to learn if the facility thought through designing the pool with wave and water movement reducing technology.

I’m wondering.

Could we see Walsh compete in the same program (except 100im of course) in Singapore this summer?

A chance to remake her scm triumph in Budapest (and wrs) in lcm or unlikely?

She could try, but there will be a trials and in long course she’s not as guaranteed to make it for all those races

I did a shallow dive into potential offenders for the heats-semis-finals WR break and it looks like John Hencken sort of did it in the 100 breast in Montreal 76. He tied his WR in the heats then broke it in semis and again in finals. Possibly missing stuff; didn’t look too closely.

I have not kept up with the SwimSwam comments this past week due to work travel so I’m sure I sound like a broken record but what a truly incredible week and year G. Walsh has had! To go from seeing her disappointment in 2021 and then hearing about all the work she’s been doing both mentally & physically the last 3 years. To now.. seeing her rewrite history in SCY, SCM and LCM is so inspiring. Especially for a washed up 35 year old mother. She’s showing our future generation how it’s done both in and out of the pool. I don’t think she would be doing what she’s doing without the adversity she’s had and the reflection she… Read more »
