Men’s meet should be exciting… lots of new faces should be ready to step up and take a step to the next level.
David Neeleman, Breeze Airways Founder & CEO, said he is looking forward to the US World Trials
For Bob’s sake?
Swim the World Record!
The candidates:
Ledecky, K. – 800 FR
Smith, R. – 50 BK, 100 BK
Walsh, G. – 50 FL, 100 FL
I’m not saying it’s outside the realm of possibility, but a G Walsh 50 Fly WR would be sooo wild. Just because that WR is already so wild
So was the W 50 FL (SCM). Yet, Gretchen Walsh slayed that World Record at the 2024 Short Course World Championships after Kate Douglass failed in three separate attempts at the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup.
The old SCM record was not in the same category as the LCM record.
^^^
yeah it was only 0.05 faster
If anyone is going to take it down, it will be Gretchen not Kate or Torri.
Sarah has joked many times about having a faster LCM best than her SCM best.
It’s not as wild as the women’s 100 meter freestyle World Record (LCM).
The 50 fly is wilder..
We’ve seen a couple women dip under 52, WR is 51.7
Gretchen just went 24.9 to become the 2nd woman ever to break 25. WR is 24.4
Math says otherwise.
According to World Aquatics, Emma McKeon is the only other female swimmer to dip under 52 and she has retired.

Dear Salty Gretch,
Prove the pundits wrong!
Math matters!!
Gretchen probably could get close to that world record with probably 24.7 but it’s probably gonna take a few years to break it.
every time you comment we all cringe
There are 7 women within 0.4 of the 100 free record. There are zero women within 0.4 of the 50 fly record, despite it being half the length.
100 fly is the best bet. Gretchen was crazy long on her turn and finish in finals and she while she was lights out at that meet, think she and Todd have found a great balance where she is fast in season and then still better at Trials, NCs, etc.
I completely disagree with the take on the W 200 FR. The majority of the top female swimmers contesting for the top six spots are young:
Date of Birth
Erisman, R. – ?/?/2008?
Weinstein, C. – 03/01/2007
Shackell, A. – 11/13/2006
Sims, B. – 05/25/2005
Gemmell, E. – 12/02/2004
Date of Birth
Erisman, R. – ?/?/2009
its may something or eraly june because she was 15 at trials last year
She just turned 16 in the last couple months (born 2009). She was still 15 at the Westmont Pro Swim.
If Rylee Erisman qualifies for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, World Aquatics will post a swimmer profile.
Speaking of Indy just swam in the Nat for the first time breaking news! The water is lukewarm.
