Bellard was still up by .3 at the 250, but Han was 2 full seconds faster on the breaststroke leg, and eventually moved to the front of the field at the 300 wall. Han led by just over .8 headed into the freestyle. At the 350 wall, Bellard had erased .2 of that lead, and the pair battled stroke for stroke down the final stretch. Han got her hand to the wall just .18 ahead of Bellard to get the win, 4:43.09 to 4:43.27. Bellard dropped 1.4 seconds off her entry time, while Han was .77 off her PB.

Scarlet Aquatics’ Chloe Kim moved from 4th to 3rd over the final 100 meters of the race, coming to the wall in 4:47.50 and edging Reese Tiltmann of Indiana Swim Club by .13. Kim dropped 1.4 seconds and Tiltman was 3.3 seconds better than her seed time.

Jake Magahey of SwimAtlanta was the only other butterflyer under 58, turning at the fly-to-back wall in 57.91.

Maurer continued to outpace the field, going 1:04.8 on the backstroke to build his lead to over 4 seconds. He was also 2.17 seconds ahead of his morning swim. Magahey maintained the second spot through the backstroke, but Ryan Merani of Kentucky Aquatics and Ryan Healy from Michigan State got past him on the breaststroke. Maurer, meanwhile, led by 4 seconds headed into the freestyle with 3:16.22, now 3.1 seconds faster than this morning.

As Maurer barreled home, there was a great deal of jockeying for position behind him. Magahey, who had faded to 6th on the breaststroke leg, passed everyone but Healy on the freestyle. Maurer finished with a PB of 4:13.17 and moved to #21 all-time in the U.S. Healy dropped 3.3 seconds to take 2nd in 4:18.94, while Magahey earned the bronze with 4:19.69, only half a second off his PB.

Alzate was 5th after the fly, 5th after the back, and 2nd after the breast, while Dornoff was 4th, 3rd, and 3rd.
