Since we now recognize fastest in season times, we should also recognize fastest individual legs of the IM. Noah Nichols split 27.7 in the breast in his IM which I believe is the fastest breast split ever. I’m pretty sure Will Licon split 27.9 his sr year and Lasco split 27.9 last year.
Also I could be wrong but I believe the fastest relay splits for the 400 MDR – 100 fly, 100 breast, and 100 free are all slower than the fastest flat start times.
Dressel 42.8 – no one has been faster on a relay
Finnerty 49 mid – I don’t think anyone has split faster than that either

I’ll have to dig through some results, but I know someone has split 27.50 before. Might’ve been 2019 A-final where like 5 swimmers went sub 1:40
Checked the last 5 years and couldn’t find it. Thought maybe it was Cody Miller, but didn’t see anything from his career at B10s or NCAAs. I know there was some other breaststroker that sat back and then had a sub 28 split.
I follow results pretty closely and I can only think of those 3 going sub 28. Maybe I missed a swim, though. Hopefully someone else can tell us both.
Only other split that I remember being close was Andrew Wilson in 2017 going 28.1 at D3 NCAAs
Alex Walsh is straight HER. She’s got that Thanos “…fine I’ll do it myself” attitude. Impressive 500. And it’s mid-November.
