PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State swimming claimed twelve wins out of the fourteen events in a 144-104 sweep against Northern Colorado at Gibb Pool Saturday. The Cougs remain undefeated in their series wins against Northern Colorado.
Freshman Anna Rauchholz had a standout meet; she picked up her first two career wins in the 100 and 50 back to earn 18 points for the Cougars which helped them defeat the Bears.
Sophomore Noelle Harvey also swept two meets in the freestyle. Harvey made her sixth career win in the 50 free and touched the wall with a 24.24 time. Harvey claimed first place in the 500 free and secured 18 points for WSU.
Freshman Emily Lundgren carried her momentum from Friday’s meet into Saturday’s races to claim two wins against Northern Colorado. Lundgren took the 100 breast and touched the wall first at 1:03.48 to earn 9 points for WSU. Lundgren picked up her fourth win of the weekend in the 50 breast and remains undefeated in the event at Gibb Pool.
Freshman Dori Hathazi recorded a win for the Cougars in the 200 free and touched the wall first at 1:52.23. This win was Hathazi’s fourth win in the young season.
Junior Kaya Takashige ended the meet with her first win of the season in the 100 IM, she touched the wall first at 58.71 which earned the Cougs their final 9 points of the meet.
Fellow junior Hailey Grotte also tallied her first win of the season with a sweep in the 200 IM. Grotte finished with a 2:09.41 time to claim 9 points for the Cougs.
The Cougs secured two second-place finishes. Hathazi competed head-to-head in the 50 fly but fell short by .39 seconds to Northern Colorado. Junior Kiana Swain also had a great swim and touched the wall second in the 100 back behind teammate Rauchholz.
WSU began and ended the meet with wins in the relays. The 200-medley relay team of Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Dori Hathazi, and Angela Di Palo set the energy in the pool with a win. The powerful underclassman finished with a time of 1:45.32. In the last event of the meet the 200 free relay team of Angela Di Palo, Dori Hathazi, Noelle Harvey, and Skylar Brgoch picked up a win and tallied 11 points.
The Cougars will be back in the pool on Nov. 16 in Texas where they will compete at the Art Adamson Invite.

PULLMAN, Wash—Competing on back-to-back dates for the third time this season, Payten Irwin led the Northern Colorado swimming and diving team with a pair of wins in a dual against Washington State University on Saturday.
Irwin swept the two butterfly events on Saturday with a 25.67 at 50 meters and a season-best time of 56.68 in the 100. Irwin was also runner-up in the 100 individual medley for 22 points in total to lead all competitors in the dual.
Washington State (1-2), a member of the Pac 12, won the dual by a 144-104 score.
Undefeated entering the meet, Northern Colorado falls to 4-1 on the season and remains 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference competitions. The Bears will now turn their attention to the Utah Tech Invitational which will be held across three days from Nov. 17-19.
The Bears finished 2-3 in seven different events and extended the result to 2-3-4 finish in the 200 freestyle and the 200 individual medley.
Anna Austin led UNC in the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:54.59 and added a second season best in the 500 free with a 5:08.83.
