ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – After having last week’s meet postponed, the Eastern Illinois women’s swimming team resumed competition on Saturday as they took part in a tri-meet at Lewis, where they competed against the hosting Flyers and Lake Forest.
Camryn Lewis picked up her third gold of the season with a time of 24.42 in the 50 freestyle.
Lewis also placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.19 and was followed by Olivia Viele in the bronze position with a time of 1:02.74.
Corinne Staneart had two top three finishes, placing third in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.48) and 100 butterfly (1:00.62).
Meanwhile, Erika Baber captured silver in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:15.27 and Autumn Grinter clocked a time of 55.01 to finish third in the 100 freestyle.
The Panthers also picked up a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the combination of Olivia Viele, Corinne Staneart, Kaylan Ottosen, and Camryn Lewis posted a time of 1:51.43.
EIU will head south to Carbondale next weekend to compete in the SIU A3 Performance Invite. The meet is scheduled to commence on Thursday, November 9th and run through Saturday, November 11th.

The Lake Forest women’s swimming and diving team competed in a double dual against Lewis University and Eastern Illinois University on Saturday, while the men’s team competed in a dual meet with just Lewis.
Freshman Audrey Kilmer and junior Ben Jacob swept the 200-butterfly events for the Foresters and recorded the only two wins for Lake Forest. Kilmer clocked her finish at 2:13.75, which was nearly four seconds faster than second place. Jacob and his teammate, sophomore Andrew Lee, went 1-2 on the men’s side with Jacob touching first at 1:59.91. Lee stopped the clock about four seconds later at 2:03.72.
Kilmer and Jacob also both placed second in their respective 100-butterfly events later in the meet. Kilmer stopped the clock at 1:00.58, and Jacob finished his race at 53.47.
The Foresters who placed second in their events were junior Noah McAdam in the 200-freestyle (1:48.83); sophomore Amelie Andres in the 100-breaststroke (1:10.26) and 500-freestyle (5:19.91); and senior Ally McCarthy in the 200-breaststroke (2:33.53).
Finally, in the final event of the meet, both the women’s and men’s “A” 400-freestyle relays finished second. Kilmer combined with Andres, freshman Izabella Harju, and sophomore Valeria Welk to finish with a time of 3:44.22. Jacob and McAdam were joined by sophomores Alexander Wilson and Demetri Zemenides for a final time of 3:15.42.
The Foresters will race again next Saturday at the Gene Davis Invite at Lawrence University. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
