Emma Weber on Surprise Olympic Berth: “I looked up and I go ‘I don’t think that’s right'”

2024 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

Virginia Sophomore Emma Weber clocked a big personal best in the 100 breast in last night’s final (1:06.10). This time was good for 2nd and an Olympic berth to the surprise of many. Weber herself was in shock after the race, having finished ahead of two of her accomplished UVA teammates and the defending Olympic champion in the event, Lydia Jacoby.

I am Emma Weber,s grandfather. Her mother Deirdre was an all star high school soccor player and runner division one at University of Richman and her great grandmother Louise Weigel (Atwill) was an olympic figure skater in the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. She was known as Honey and I am sure she was with Emma the last few days and forever.
