16 year old Charlotte Crush swam to two wins on night 1 of competition in Indianapolis. Crush first won the 200 back in a 2:10.29 before winning the 50 fly in a 26.48.
Crush just off her lifetime best in the 200 back of a 2:09.71 before that she swam at this meet a year ago. Tonight’s swim was faster than she was at last month’s US Trials as she swam a 2:12.17 for 20th then. Tonight’s swim would have been 13th in semifinals. Later in the session, Crush swam a 26.48 in the 50 fly, just off her best of a 26.18 that she swam for the win a year ago.
After a best time in the morning, Brayden Capen moved up the 15-16 boys rankings in the 200 back once again as he clocked a 1:59.49. That time now sits at #10 in the all-time rankings. Capen’s old lifetime best prior to today stood at a 2:00.34 that he swam at this meet a year ago. That swim sits at #2 all-time for the 13-14 age group.
Annam Olasewere earned the win in the 100 free touching in a 56.24, half a second off her best time of a 55.74 that she swam at US Summer Nationals. Olasewere will represent the US next month at Junior Pan Pacs in Australia.
The boys 100 freestyle was a close race this morning with 4 boys separated by 0.05 seconds this morning. Tonight, Devin Dilger earned the win touching in a 50.52. The Florida commit has a best time of a 49.62 that he swam at Spring NCSAs. After leading prelims, Alex Thiesing was 2nd in a 50.58.
Later in the evening, Thiesing helped the Lakeside Swim Team boys 200 medley relay to a win. Thiesing anchored in a 22.72 as the team of Cassius Moter, Wilson York, Boone Wilcox, and Thiesing touched in a 1:43.47.
Dilger also had a 2nd place finish on the night touching in a 24.56 in the 50 fly. 15 year old Brady Campbell earned the win in a 24.29.
The girls side also had the 200 medley relay tonight. Academy Bullets team of Claire Conklin, Elizabeth Mawrocki, Tessalina Stravropoulous, and Rebecca Rentz won in a 1:55.59.
