The LSU Tigers rolled to wins over Houston, Tulane, and Rice at the Houston CRWC pool on Friday and Saturday, January 26-27th. Houston also picked up wins against Rice and Tulane, while Rice came out on top of Tulane.
The Tigers won 16 of 19 events, wile Rice won 2, and Houston won 1. Leading the way for the Tigers was diver Lizzie Cui, who took the 1 and 3 meter, and finished out an undefeated dual meet season in the 1 meter. Cui posted her 2nd best score of the season in the 1 meter – 320.05. Her season best score of 321.15 ranks her 4th on the SEC. Cui also posted a season best in the 3 meter, 376.90, placing her 3rd in the conference.
LSU posted fast times in the free relays compared to their season bests. In the 200 free relay, the team of Haylee Knight (23.28), Summer Spradley (23.53), Grace Horton (23.12), and Leyre Casarin (22.91) combined to post a 1:32.84, just under 2 seconds off their season best of 1:30.92. The 400 free relay team of Jane MacDougall (51.28), Spradley (51.08), Horton (49.93), and Casarin (50.87) went a time of 3:23.16, just a second off their season best of 3:22.04.
Rice’s Alicia Caldwell posted a 4:51.66 to win the 500 free by 3 seconds over Tennyson Henry. Caldwell’s time was her best time in a non-invite this season by 2 and a half seconds. Her season best time of 4:44.60 tops the C-USA standings by over 3 seconds.
Cassie Kalisz went a season best time to win the 200 back. Kalisz went out in the 1st half with a speedy 55.70, and came back in a 1:00.37 to post a 1:56.07, beating her teammate Alexandria Ham (runner up) by over 3 seconds (1:59.38). Kalisz’ time ranks her 18th in the 200 back in the SEC as we near the SEC Championships.
Jane MacDougall went a season-best by almost 30 seconds in the 1000 free, posting a 9:59.94 to win by 3 seconds over her teammate Lexi Daniels (10:03.38). MacDougall’s previous best time this season was a 10:27.72 from September. Her time ranks as the 19th-best in the SEC this season.
