English Sprinter Emily Crane Commits to Ohio State for 2020-21

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Emily Crane from Leicester, England has announced her commitment to swim at The Ohio State University beginning in the fall of 2020. She will join the Buckeyes with Catherine Russo, Janessa Mathews, Katherine “KitKat” Zenick, Kyra Sommerstad, Liberty Gilbert, Maya Geringer, and Mia Lachey.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to The Ohio State University! I felt right at home when I arrived on campus and was introduced to the swimmers and coaching staff. The atmosphere was on another level and I could tell straight away everyone loved being part of the team, and were proud to represent the University. The campus as a whole was incredible, and the facilities and support available to the student-athletes were elite. I could not have made this decision without the full support from my family, coaches and teammates as well as all the support staff that work with Loughborough Swimming. I cannot wait to take the leap over the pond and start the next chapter of my swimming career at The Ohio State University. Go Bucks!!”

Crane specializes in sprint free and back at Loughborough University. She competed for Loughborough at BUCS in March, finaling in the 50/100 free and 100 back as well as the 4×100 free relay. The next month at British Swimming Championships in Glasgow she claimed the bronze medal in the 100m free with a PB of 55.21. She also won the B finals of the 50 back and 50 free.

Crane recently notched PBs in the SCM 50/100 free and 50/100 back at Swim England National Winter Championships. She won the 50 back, came in 2nd in the 50 free and 100m free, and placed 4th in the 100 back.

Ohio State produced sprinter Liz Li who won B1Gs titles in the 50 free and 100 free and still owns the B1G record in the 50 free (21.28). Crane’s converted 50 free and 100 free times would have placed her in the A finals of those events at 2019 B1G Championships. She will have a year of overlap with Buckeyes Freya Rayner and Taylor Petrak, both of whom made A finals in the 50/100 free at the conference meet.
