**Our apologies. There was a logistical error with the original results we published which caused scores to be assigned to the incorrect contestants. It has been fixed and the data in this post is now correct. Thank you for your patience.**
The first finals session of the 2022 SC World Championships is in the books, which means it’s time for our first scoring update in the SwimSwam Pick’em Contest! There were only a handful of finals during the first session, including the women’s 400 free, women’s 200 IM, men’s 200 IM, men’s 1500 free, women’s 4×100 free relay, and men’s 4×100 free relay.
It was an eventful session, though our contestants still managed to fare well despite some surprising results. One of the key results was that women’s 400 free World Record holder Li Bingjie pulled out of the event just hours before the first prelims session. That left many contestants high and dry, unless they were following the news closely enough to come and change their picks before the form closed.
In retrospect it’s not that surprising of a result, but Matt Sates winning the men’s 200 IM wasn’t a popular choice among our contestants. Australia winning the women’s 4×100 free relay also caught a number of respondents up.
Day 1 Finals Event Winners
- Women’s 400 free: Lani Pallister (Australia)
- Women’s 200 IM: Kate Douglass (USA)
- Men’s 200 IM: Matt Sates (South Africa)
- Men’s 1500 free: Gregorio Paltrinieri (Italy)
- Women’s 4×100 free relay: Australia
- Men’s 4×100 free relay: Italy
Below, you’ll find the results from the first day of the meet, in order of highest-to-lowest scores. Congratulations to “DragonSwim,” who was the top scorer of day!
As always, just a friendly reminder that rather than scrolling through the spreadsheet until you find your name, it would be easiest to use the “CTRL + F” function to search for your screen name.
Where is the day 2 pickem results?
It’s gonna be the first time finishing in the top 150 for so many of us! 🏆🎉
In my own nerdy spreadsheet, I have myself as 68 points not 67, so in the recording there might be a mistake that affected everyone
Looks like it was fixed, per the bold note at the top of the article
I’ve never been in the top 10 before!
You aren’t anymore sorry. There was an error
Lucky guy shares a rank (83) with me instead.
People didn’t choose Australia to win the women’s relay last night? I mean it was closer than we thought but still.
Yeah agreed. It was closer than expected but I still thought Aus were heavy favourites. Girls were ranked 2/3/4/12 coming into the meet. Pretty hard to beat that.
