14-year-old Teagan O’Dell of Irvine Novaquatics continues to have an incredible meet, racing head-to-head against Elmbrook Swim Club 15-year-old Maggie Wanezek in prelims of the women’s 100 back this morning. O’Dell clocked another lifetime best, swimming a 1:01.62. Her previous best was 1:01.88, which she had swum in late June of this year, approximately 6 weeks ago.

The swim makes O’Dell the #15 performer all-time in the 13-14 girls age group. Here is the current #11-20 rankings all-time in the 13-14 girls LCM 100 back:

Rank Time Swimmer Date
11 1:01.48 Isabelle Stadden 7/1/2017
12 1:01.49 Maggie Wanezek 12/6/2019
13 1:01.55 Diana Mac Manus 3/27/2001
14 1:01.59 Beth Botsford 1/1/1996
15 1:01.62 Teagan O’Dell 8/6/2021
16 1:01.71 Rachel Bootsma 8/4/2008
17 1:01.76 Lucie Nordmann 3/20/2015
18 1:01.88 Amaranta Rodriguez-Coutino 8/3/2014
19 1:01.99 Kaitlin Harty 6/25/2012
20 1:02.10 Madison White/Annabel Crush 8/10/2009 – 7/28/2018

O’Dell has dropped significant amounts of time from her prelims swims in all of her finals to this point in the meet, so we’ll be looking for another lifetime best from her tonight. She only has to drop about 0.2 seconds to break into the all-time top 10 in the age group. O’Dell has already cracked the all-time 13-14 girls top 10 in 3 other events this week. She’s now the #2 all-time 13-14 performer in the girls 200 back, #5 in the girls 100 free, and #T-10 in the women’s 400 IM.

O’Dell will also be chasing her 3rd title of the meet tonight, but she’ll have a touch race on her hands with Wanezek.

Also in the women’s 100 back prelims was Denver Hilltoppers 14-year-old Charlotte Wilson, who finished 4th this morning with a 1:03.11. The swim marked a personal best by 1.19 seconds. Wilson’s previous best of 1:04.30 was swum just 3 weeks ago at a Sectionals meet. With the swim, Wilson is now #47 all-time in the 13-14 girls age group.

Her goal in the 200 back was to break Missy Franklin’s NAG record. She was close.
It will be harder in the 100. Regan Smith holds the NAG record in 1.00.26.
She can swim under 1.01 in final.
