Ohio State’s Hudson McDaniel Time Trials 26.92 50 Breast, #4 American All-Time

Rising Ohio State senior Hudson McDaniel swam a time trial of the 50 breast on Tuesday at the Greensboro site of the Speedo Summer Championships. In that time trial, McDaniel smashed his previous best time of 27.73, roaring to a 26.92.

With the swim, McDaniel has become the #4 American all-time in the men’s LCM 50 breaststroke. He now sits just 0.16 seconds behind Kevin Cordes‘ American Record of 26.76. Here is the all-time top 5 American performers in the men’s 50 breast:

In addition to the #4 American all-time ranking, McDaniel is now the #22 performer all-time in the world. He’s also tied for #8 in the world this year. Here are the 2021 world rankings in the 50 breast:

McDaniel took one last run at bettering his time, opting to go for a 1st 50 split in the A final of the men’s 100 breast on Friday. In that race, McDaniel split a 27.23 on the opening 50, now his 3rd-fastest career 50 breast.

Hudson McDaniel will be entering his senior season with the Ohio State Buckeyes in just a few weeks. In the 2020-2021 season, McDaniel finished 10th in the SCY 100 breast with a 51.55 at Men’s NCAAs. At the Big 10 Championships, he took 5th with a time of 51.59 (yards).
