The California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIF-SS) just released psych sheets for its four divisional championship meets which will take place Wednesday, May 14 through Saturday, May 17 at Riverside Aquatics Complex.
Division I | Prelims Thursday May 15; 9:00am | Finals Saturday May 17; 5:00pm |
Division II | Prelims Friday, May 16; 9:00am | Finals Saturday May 17; 10:00am |

Division IV | Prelims Wednesday May 14; 9:00am | Finals Friday May 16; 5:00pm |
Division I is typically made up of the largest high schools and has the fastest time standards. There are both auto-cuts and consideration times for each Division. There are 36 qualifiers per event, per division.
Does anyone know if the D1 finals will be video-streamed over the internet? If so, what is the web address to use?
Look at that link.

It’s not free.
Or if anyone has the timeline for yesterday’s prelim Division 3/4, please forward. Thanks so much.
Does anyone have an estimated timeline for CIF prelim/finals for 2014? If not, 2013 to view as a point of reference. We are trying to determine when/what time the breaks are and for how long? Thank you.
Which division does Lindsey Engel swim in? I didn’t see her in the psych sheets.
Division 3. Same as Ella Eastin.
Both the boys 100 back and 100 fly are loaded with talent! Gornay vs Thomas Smith vs Tran in the backstroke and Okubo, Valente, Nelson and a few other contenders in the fly. That will be a showdown.
Yes, there are a few in that 100 Fly that could surprise a few of the top swimmers. Some that swam League partially tapered, not shaved, and not in their speed suits.
I am sorry you didn’t like my comment.. but it is true… I am a mommy of one of the boys in the 100 fly that didn’t taper much, didn’t shave and didn’t have his speed suit on.
Are biggest Californian talents like Weitzeil, McLaughlin or Eastin fully tapered for these high school championships in May? If yes, they could swim very fast times.
I watch them develop for 3 or 4 years and I think they have a great international future.
Ella Eastin and Katie McLaughlin are both junior world champions.
And Abbey Weitzeil has an amazing short course season so far. 22.02 in the 50 free/47.59 in the 100 free/1.45.49 in the 200 free.
Any ideas about their future college destinations?
On college swimming Abbey is still ranked 40th in their 2015 list! 🙄

Wait, how do you get GREEN smiley faces?
Fully tapered? We’ll find out next week, Bobo, but my guess is that many of your favorites will be trying to make Junior Pan Pacs. Selection for that team takes place at the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championships in Irvine from August 6-10. That’s a bit like what they were doing last year: most of them skipped World Championship Trials and just focused on Junior Nationals.
I’m sure they will be moderately tapered, in any case, which means we should see some fast times. Hopefully you’ll get to put a lot of smiley faces in your comments. 🙂
In my opinion, these 3 girls can qualify for PanPacs. Not the junior PanPacs. The PanPacs with the big names. Time for them to make damages at the best level.
For Ella Eastin I expect a big swim around 4.34/4.35! Correct me if I’m wrong but 3 swimmers can qualify in individual for the PanPacs. So behind DiRado and Beisel, it’s very open for the 3rd place.
For Abbey Weitzeil, a qualification in the US 4X100 free relay team isn’t impossible. In my opinion she’s able to swim 54 low next summer and it could be enough to be in the top 6.
Katie McLaughlin will qualify in individual in the 200 fly, perhaps the weakest event in… Read more »
wait three people qualify per country? i didn’t know that
klorn8d – 3 per country can qualify, only two can advance.
Most people taper at least a week and a half for CIF if not a full taper… CIF Division 1 is the big show for SoCal swimming… CIf in general is the big show for club swimmers too. Mainly because we all feel like we’re swimming for our team rather than our club, and also because it’s the one time that swimmers get any attention in the paper…
In the end, it honestly doesn’t really matter how much someone is tapered.. everyone usually goes best times at CIF… I remember last year I only got tapered for half the amount of time I usually go and I busted out swims that were way faster than my best times from… Read more »
