Lincoln, Nebraska, November 8, 2014 – Devaney Natatorium was rocked by fourteen individual wins on the side of the Arkansas Razorback women as they overpowered the Nebraska Huskers home team 190 – 106.  Add in a pool record by Arkansas in the women’s 200 medley relay and it was a recipe for Arkansas to essentially be unstoppable in this non-conference duel.

The Arkansas 200 medley relay team of Anna Mayfield (junior), Nikki Daniels (senior), Susanna White (senior), and Nina Drolc (junior) lit the meet on fire by setting a Devaney Nat pool record with a time of 1:42.90.  This surpassed the previous record 1:43.03 set by Stanford back in 1983.  The Razorbacks continued on a streak of wins, with Rachel Stoehr topping the 1000 freestyle field in a first place time of 10:18.65.  An Arkansas sweep in the 200 freestyle further added to the point accumulation, with freshman Chloe Hannam (1:52.89), freshman Chelsea Tatlow (1:54.27), and junior Maddie Monroe (1:54.47) going 1-2-3 for the Razorbacks.

Two Arkansas women fell just short of NCAA B cuts: Anna Mayfield’s 55.50 in the 100 backstroke was just off the 55.09 standard; Nikki Daniels’ 1:02.53 was only four hundredths off the 1:02.49 cut.

Additional sweeps followed in the 200 butterfly (Caitlin Sheridan, Jessie Garrison, Taylor Weiss) and the 200 backstroke, led by Chloe Hannam’s 2:00.77 top time.  The Razorbacks finished out the meet with a strong 200 free relay win in a time of 1:34.94.

The first and only individual swimming event victory for the Huskers came from Alex Bilunas in the 50 freestyle, where she clocked the winning time of 23.91.  For all other events, it was a story of second-place finishes, as the Huskers simply fell short of the number one spot throughout the meet.  Jordan Ehly earned two of these second place spots with her 2:20.43 200 breast time and her 4:37.99 in the 400 IM.  Rebekah Land earned second in the 100 backstroke in 57.62 for the Huskers, as Katt Sickle was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:05.48, and Bria Deveaux’s 57.13 time was fast enough for second in the 100 butterfly.

In upcoming action, the Nebraska women will be attending the Missouri Invitational in Columbia, MO taking place November 20th-22nd.  Arkansas will be traveling to Atlanta, GA for the Georgia Tech Invitational also scheduled for November 20th-22nd.
