14-year-old Irvine Novaquatics swimmer Teagan O’Dell blasted another all-time top 10 swim for 13-14 girls tonight. Racing in the 100 back, O’Dell went down to the wire with Elmbrook Swim Club 15-year-old Maggie Wanezek, ultimately finishing 2nd in 1:00.88.

The swim marked O’Dell’s 2nd lifetime best of the day. In prelims, she swam a 1:01.62, swimming a personal best by 0.26 seconds. With that swim, she also rose to #15 all-time in the 13-14 girls rankings. Prior to the meet, O’Dell had a lifetime best of 1:01.88, which she swam at the end of June, just about 6 weeks ago.

Interestingly, O’Dell was 0.01 seconds slower on her opening 50 tonight than she was in prelims this morning, despite her final time being 0.74 seconds faster. She made her improvement on the 2nd 50, splitting a 31.06, marking just a 1.24-seconds difference between her 1st and 2nd 50s tonight.
