Savannah Swim Team’s Stephen Jones has verbally committed to Georgia Tech for fall 2022. Jones is a junior at Richmond Hill High School in Georgia.
I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic pursuits at the Georgia Institute of Technology! The rigors that await me at GT will make me a better student and athlete. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and family for always supporting me. Special thanks to my brother Robby for pushing me to my best, in and out of the pool. I would also like to thank the coaching staff at GT for giving me this opportunity to join this amazing swim team! Go Yellow Jackets!!

Jones’ best time in the 200 fly, a 1:51.18, was done when he was 14 years old, and he set the Georgia 14 & under LSC age group record in the process. Most recently, Jones raced at the Georgia HS 6A State Championships, where he was runner-up in the 100 fly (49.60) and fourth in the 500 free (4:39.45). He was the 2020 6A champion in the 100 fly.
In long course meters, Jones has shown a lot of potential. In the 200 fly, he made the A-final at the 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals, hitting a lifetime best 2:01.66, just off of an Olympic Trials Wave I cut.
At Savannah Swim Team, which was founded in 1962, Jones holds 15 team records. He also holds seven individual records on the Richmond Hill high school team.
Jones adds to the GT class of 2026, which includes Adam O’Brien and Cade Martin.
