Nitro Swimming’s Corban Rawls, the #20 recruit on our list of high school boys from the class of 2017, has verbally committed to the application process at Harvard University*.
“I chose Harvard due to its stellar academic and athletic prowess, as well as, the comfortable yet exciting atmosphere of the swim team, and Cambridge itself. I know that at Harvard, I will become successful in anything I choose to do both inside and outside of the pool.”
Rawls is a talented freestyler, who excels primarily at the 100/200 distances. He competed at 2016 Speedo Junior Nationals this past summer and finished 18th in the 100m free, 36th in the 200m free, and 43rd in the 200m IM. In short course season he placed 3rd in the 100y free at 2015 Speedo Junior Nationals West, 6th in the 200y free, and 21st in the 200y IM. He also competed in the 50y free and the 100y breast.
Rawls’ best SCY times are:
- 50 free – 21.22
- 100 free – 44.15
- 200 free – 1:37.02
- 200 IM – 1:50.13
- 100 breast – 57.45
Rawls’ times would have helped Harvard at the 2016 Ivy League Men’s Championships, as he would have scored in the B final of the 100 free, the A final of the 200 free, and C final of the 200 IM and 100 breast.
