Duke’s Nick McCrory Named ACC S&D Scholar Athlete of the Year; Five Graduate as Four-Time All-ACC Selections

Duke senior Nick McCrory has added another honor to his growing resume, as the ACC on Wednesday named him the conference’s Men’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

This goes along with the honor of Male Diver of the Year awarded to the 2014 NCAA Champion on the 10-meter platform event.

In total, he will graduate with 11 All-American honors (one shy of the maximum for a diver) and 10 ACC titles.

McCrory led the announcement of the All-Acc Academic Men’s Swimming & Diving Team, which included representation from all 11 schools that sponsor either sport in the conference. Virginia Tech led the way with 9 on the list, followed by Virginia and Notre Dame (6 each).

The criteria for this list includes maintaining a 3.0 GPA both for their career and for each of the last two semesters.

Of special note on this list are 5 graduating seniors who are four-time honorees. To become a four-time honoree, a student-athlete has to effectively have maintained a 3.0 GPA in every semester of their college careers.

Those 5 are:

  • Tom Neubacher, Florida State
  • Jonathan Boffa, NC State
  • Taylor Grey, Virginia
  • Ryan Hawkins, Virginia Tech
  • Nick Tremols, Virginia Tech
