Zach Toothman from Parma, Ohio has announced his commitment to Case Western Reserve University for the 2021-22 school year.

Toothman swims for Saint Ignatius High School and Cleveland Swim Institute and specializes in breaststroke and IM. He closed out his high school swimming career with a 3rd in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 breast at District Championships in February. A year ago, he competed at the OHSAA Division 2 State Meet in the 100 breast and came in 24th in prelims. In the last 9 months, he has improved his lifetime bests in the SCY 50 free, 100 back, 50/100 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM. At the 2020 Lake Erie Swimming LSC Senior Championships, he finished 9th in the 200 IM, 15th in the 200 back, and 22nd in the 100 back. In May and June, he swam at the TCAT Long Course Age Group & Open Meet and Holtrey Summer Classic and updated his times in the LCM 50 free, 100/200 back, 50 fly, and 200 IM.

Toothman will be an immediate impact player for CWRU when he suits up for the Spartans in September. He would have scored in both the breaststroke and IM events at 2020 UAA Championships where Case Western finished 4th of six teams. Toothman will join Jasha Heide in the class of 2025.
