After day 1 of racing in Brisbane, several Australian swimmers punched their qualification ticket to the 2017 World Championships in Brisbane. As a refresher, per Swimming Australia’s selection criteria, a maximum team size of 52 athletes (26 male, 26 female) will be selected for Budapest. First and second place finishers in the ‘A’ final of individual Olympic events in Brisbane qualify for a spot on the roster, provided they swim a time that equals or betters the Swimming Australia qualifying mark listed below:

Men’s 50m freestyle:
- Cameron McEvoy – 21.55
- James Roberts – 21.91
Women’s 800m freestyle:
- Ariarne Titmus – 8:23.08
- Jessica Ashwood – 8:25.16
Women’s 100m freestyle:
- Bronte Campbell – 52.85
- Emma McKeon – 53.12
- Cate Campbell – 53.30* (*not competing at Worlds)
- Shayna Jack – 53.40
Men’s 200m backstroke:
- Mitch Larkin – 1:56.66
- Josh Beaver – 1:56.95
Men’s 400m freestyle:
- Mack Horton – 3:44.18
- David McKeon – 3:46.90
- Jack McLoughlin – 3:46.96 (QT, but only top 2 are selected)
Top 2 swimmers in the Men’s 100 fly were under the FINA A cut but slower then the Aussie cut.
