USC’s Louise Hansson has scratched out of the 200 IM. Hansson, a sophomore, was the #16-seed in the race, entered with a 1:55.53. She led off USC’s 13th-place 800 free relay Wednesday night, and went 1:42.71 — she had been 1:41.81 at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships. She is the #2-seed in both 100 fly on Friday and the 200 fly on Saturday.
Two women scratched out of the 500 free: Texas’ #57-seed Lauren Case, along with 62-seed Hannah Burvill (Iowa).
Besides Hansson, 10 more women scratched the 200 IM. Indiana’s Christine Jensen, who was seeded 37th, will not swim, and neither will 38-seed Grace Oglesby (Louisville). Other scratched include Louisville’s Mariia Astashkina, Wisconsin’s Jessica Unicomb, Louisville’s Alina Kendzior, Minnesota’s Lindsey Kozelsky, Kentucky’s Bridgette Alexander, SMU’s Andrea Podmanikova, South Carolina’s Margaret Higgs, and Louisville’s Lauren James.
Nine women have scratched the 50 free, including Minnesota’s #20-seed Danielle Nack, who is also the #7-seed in the 100 fly and #16-seed in the 200 fly. Other scratches include NC State’s Elise Haan, Missouri’s Hannah Stevens, Indiana’s Alexandra Rockett, Auburn’s Julie Meynen, Cal’s Noemie Thomas, Virginia’s Eryn Eddy, Virginia Tech’s Joelle Vereb, and Michigan’s Gabby DeLoof.
Strange to see Hansson scratching the 2IM after A-finaling last year…
Why so many scratches in the 50?
200 free relay and 400 medley are this am too.
